Something about the wording, or the fact that I'm specifying at all? I'm trying to set myself apart from the outsource companies for obvious reasons...

Agreed. My girlfriend is finishing up her Master's in History with a focus on the 20th century Cold War and Woman's Studies, and she's made it very clear that she doesn't agree with Hillary's politics.

We were chatting just the other day and she said that she really does wish she could vote for Hillary because she's a female candidate, but she knows she won't be able to.

But then, my girlfriend is also one of the 20% of Americans that apply independent thought to what they do... so who's really to say.

                Must have just been coincidence.
Must have been, considering that Gore actually won the popular vote and the election came down to a supreme court decision about a few hundred votes in Florida.

I guess you knew that would happen and that at least 5 of the Supreme Court Justices didn't want to see a Jew in office?

I feel very much the same way. I also worry that if she does become president, and things go badly, it will be bad for the women in the US in some way. I'm really not looking forward to 2008.

Then there are the women that just would never vote for a woman. I have met more of those than those that would.

Notice it was a Southern state? If it had been New York it would have been different.

Unless you're speaking in pure geographical terms, you can't call Florida a southern state.

I grew up there and I know something about the politics and demographics.
Florida is not a "red state" like Kentucky or Alabama. It is very "purple"
                            Bill Clinton carried it twice.

You're really reaching now. If you still want to have your fantasy that a Jewish VP candidate is the reason Gore lost, I won't stand in your way.

I'm not sure what part of FL you grew up in, but I grew up in FL, too - and my hometown was more "Southern" than a lot of towns in Georgia and the Carolinas.

Hailing from Central FL, I've heard it said that the more northern you go in FL, the more "Southern" you get.

And I do believe you're mistaken about Clinton carrying FL twice - I'm pretty sure Bush had the 1992 FL vote.

I will, however, give you that FL's rarely a guaranteed thing for either party... unless, of course, that party has control of the Secretary of State in FL and rigs the report of the vote... as seems to have happened 7 years ago.

If Al would run, he would win. Totally smart putting Obama on there too.

You're right about 92. Clinton carried it in 96.

Yes there are some "southern" areas of Florida, but a great deal of the people there are from the Northeast, and moved for the better climate. So the state is pretty evenly split amongst liberals and conservatives with independents holding all the swing votes.

Baddog, I'm sure you're intelligent enough to know what I mean when I say FL isn't a "southern" state.

When people refer to southern states, in the political sense, they're usually referring to states that seceded from the union during the civil war.
Republicans have carried those states ever since LBJ pushed through the civil rights act.

In that political sense, Florida is not a southern state.

Not to keep pounding in the issue, but FL seceded from the Union in 1961 - which made it a founding member of the Confederacy.

Al Gore said the other day on LIVE EARTH he "has fallen out of love with politics" and "I just can't handle the spin anymore"..in other words, he's moved on and focused on his life saving the planet, not being head doo doo in charge of the terd pile.
