I used the iGoogle “Predictor” gadget yesterday as they have done pretty great the previous two years. It had Ireland and Germany as the top two so that wasn't exactly correct.
Placed two bets on them ($2k each) for making the top 10 and Germany baaaaaaaaarely made it in with 8 points from Latvia as the last country voting. Phew!Comment

Personally I don't like Eurovision because it's so pop, boring, tasteless, and gay (hey stop calling me a homophobe, I just don't understand why every singer has to look like a fag).

I think we use the excuse that other countries do not like the uk. but thats rubbish. first most sing in english. secend, most uk songs have been realy bad. we got a lot of votes this year so they cannot say they do not like us anymore.
personaly i think britain should not automaticly be accepted. we should be in the semi finals rather than jump to the finals. if we did that then i bet we would be forced to have a better song.
britain spent a fortune going country to country with blue. thats why we did better this year with what i think was a bland song.
i bet irland did not have the budget to do that. thats why i think they did so well.

i know it's not very popular to like the EU, at least not on GFY
but i do.
not only for personal reasons but also the positive effects for all of us are easily forgotten. like that Europe never before had 66 years in a row without war, never was that strong economically (yes, still) and that without the EU many countries would still be the shitholes they were before - like Greece, Portugal, Spain. the problem with those countries nowadays are coward governments that cannot enforce basic laws and big parts of the population that make it a sport to avoid paying taxes and therefore leave their countries without money.
yes, many things are wrong, but it's still a lot better than without the EU. i just need to look out of the window to see it. i moved to another country like i was moving to another town with no hassle at all and without the money of the EU, eastern Europe would not look like it looks now. in return the EU got millions of new consumers and workers (how would England look like without polish nurses ;) )
i learned to ignore the big headlines nowadays since non of that ever affected me personallyComment
