10 Worst Car Modification Crimes (Pics)

Nice mods ..or not

NO 10

There is a strong argument for spicing up the standard sound system of your car. But a wall of speakers, punctuated by two 15-inch subwoofers which are guaranteed to shatter your rear window, definitely crosses the line of sensibility

NO9

Vertically hinged doors that flip open like a jack knife certainly do the trick on the Lamborghini Murcielago. Cheaply fitted aftermarket versions, however, will never have the same level of decorum as a car specifically designed to use scissor doors.

NO8

Solid colours and metallic finishes are so last millennium when you can opt for this twirled igloo-on-wheels effect. The fact that passengers are guaranteed to feel car sick before you?re even out the driveway is of course a small price to pay.

NO7

From oversized 40-inch rims (yes that?s right, 40-inchers) to chrome spinners ? there are endless ways to add some personal style with aftermarket wheels. Even more extreme is adding a third or even fourth set of wheels.

NO6

Strips of neon lights worked brilliantly in Tron: Legacy, but on your average road car it generally smacks of trying-too-hard. Especially when the lights are fitted underneath the chassis, to create the illusion of a hovering UFO, or on the inside where its only purpose is to show off your cool grin.

NO5

Let?s be honest, a low slung car is always going to look much sportier than one riding high on its wheels ? but simply lopping part of your suspension off and leaving no ground clearance is never a good idea. Especially when an unexpected speed bump pops up.

N04

There is a lot to be said for sporty body kits which accentuate your ride?s lines and curves and also add some street cred. But turning your set of wheels into a spiky alien chariot?

NO3

High-end performance models invariably sport some type of rear spoiler to help generate down force at high speeds. Cessna-sized aftermarket versions, however, have little effect on aerodynamics and just add extra weight which actually slows the car down.

NO2

Taking cues for your car?s cabin design from a TV character is hardly ever a good idea, but even less so when that character is Hello Kitty. Even the steering wheel of this cerise pink shrine pays homage to the animated Japanese cat.

NO1 My pet hate ...

There is a big difference between a performance exhaust which enhances the way your car drives and sounds, and ?coffee can? tailpipes that don?t have any practical merit other than acting as potential rocket launchers. While we are all for the first type, the second kind seldom goes down well.
