If you want to get rid of posting whores get rid of the money prizes.
Offer something business related stuff like:
one month or three months of free hosting, or the coupon codes for hosting, scripts, content...
and as if you already promoting, hosting, script or content company you can probably get that stuff for free ;)Comment

Carbon is not the problem, it makes up 0.041% of our atmosphere , 95% of that is from Volcanos and decomposing plants and stuff. So people in the US are responsible for 13% of the carbon in the atmosphere which 95% is not from Humans, like cars and trucks and stuff and they want to spend trillions to fix it while Solar Panel plants are powered by coal plants

However, just like the rep thing I see plenty of opportunities for abuse. My concern about the longest thread of the week is what's to stop the thread starter from constantly posting in their own thread with either a thinly veiled bump or the same regurgitated dribble. One could start a " best ass " thread and continually bump it with hot linked images off google.
Perhaps adding a rule like the thread starter can only post a maximum of 50% in their thread would help. One person with multiple fake nics causing fake drama always made for long threads but I don't see how that would be fair in a contest.
Great idea and I hope it gets thought through so everyone can have some fun

Make the longest thread biz only and/or only count the real replies.
Award the people that have been here 5+ years with a contest of their own, no idea what or how to do it.
Its easy to get a few post whores together and win the longest thread contest avoid that. No voting for a prize it only means the guy with the most friends (paid or not) will win.Truth TellerComment

The weekly longest threads would just be which ever thread ends up being the longest for the week. Then of those four each month we would have the community vote for the best one of the month. I would think that having a business or educational version of this contest would pretty much keep it to topics that are relevant to members.
Good ideas. I disagree that it is easy to get a few post whores together and win though. I mean what happens if you do that and then on Friday someone drops a Bomb like "Manwin Shut Down by the Federal Government!" That thread would probably trump any other business related thread for the week.No OneComment

I think the prizes should be beneficial to an adult webmaster. Like free advertising on gfy, free scripts, hosting domains, or something along those lines. I think it will make for more quality threads.
Political posts shouldn't win lol.
I think it would be fun to have a funny picture thread in your everyday life, like take a picture of someone or something you see in everyday life that captures humor.
Something that captures beauty. Start a thread with images from a lot of webmasters, one image per thread per webmaster. Then avn picks the top five and start a voting thread and after 20 days someone wins a good prize.
