You are wrong...they do give a damn...as most of them want to be reelected and unless one is going to become a political activist it is the only way a person can effectively protest issues. I seriously doubt that one in ten thousand have ever actually contacted their representative and just prefer to complain to the wind...and this is one of the reasons why Americans have the government that we have.
