52 Homes Burned - Angora Fire in South Lake Tahoe.

The Angora Fire is about 5 miles southeast of South Lake Tahoe. They just said on the news 52 homes have burned to the ground. Fire is pretty small at 500 acres but with winds gusting over 35mph it is spreading rapidly and the winds are blowing it right to South Lake Tahoe.

Angora lake was a big part of my childhood. Biggest cliffs in the tahoe area for jumping.

We had an arsonist running around my neighborhood this morning. Tahoe and Reno look pretty ugly when they're burned... and they're always getting burned.

another local news show just said 165+ homes have been destroyed now and the fire is 750 acres big!

Over 165 homes have burned and more than 500 additonal houses are threatened.

I drove over Donner pass today and the smoke was evident. I thought I was looking at smoke from Carson, but it was even further away than that.

A very good friend of mine had to evacuate his house.

I think things are getting better now that the winds have died down.

I'm happy no one was hurt or killed, but it's still very sad to see. Tahoe is a special place.

Encouraging news tonight. The containment is up to 40% from near-zero this morning. The weather really cooperated today.
