The same stupid point can be made for a car license plate after a bank robbery. "I wasn't driving, the car was stolen, a neighbor knew where I hid my keys, etc"
You might not be the one who committed the crime but you sure as hell don't get a free pass from having the door kicked in while the investigation is on going.
