Sorry to maybe disappoint - but there is no need to look back as far as WW2 to see that the US was directly responsible for the training of torturers and murderers in many countries and them proceeded to participate thru agencies and contrators to murder many thousands of innocent people. You are from Germany and are bitching about the US? Your country killed their own people for being Jewish. You remember Hitler and the SS soldiers. Your citizens know what was going on and didn't do a damn thing to help those people being killed. Germany is the last country that should be saying anything about war and killing. The US and other allies saved the people in the concentration camps and helped end the war. You're welcome for that.
As an introduction to the reign of terror instigated by the US - check out references to the School of the,,or, as the name has now changed out of embarassment to prove "we no longer torture and kill people" - WINSEC or the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation.
As you are aware, those same techniques have now been implemented in the Middle East and the US govt now operates a concentration camp in Cuba and a number of other camps where torture is a daily occurance.
Before attempting to criticize a person who apparently comes from Germany and who presumably played no part in the actions of the Third Reich - perhaps it is appropriate that you look closer to home and examine the Fourth Reich.Comment

I'm not going to say that I'm an expert in US history, but I will tell you this: The USA (that great nation of the free!) supported and funded dictatorships in my country. They sent men from your country to teach us how to torture each other for information. Why? Due to threat of growing communism in these parts. I guess that's a good enough reason for you right?Comment

Please at least make an effort to engage your brain before putting your fingers to a keypad.
There is NO DOUBT your country "hung blacks from trees" and was still doing this at the same time the Third Reich was operating concentration camps.Comment

I am assuming you are talking about Guantanamo Bay. That is a detention center not a concentration camp. We play no part in what our government does but you people sure like to bitch at us like we do.Comment

You are an idiot. Our whole country did not hang people from trees. That was mostly members of the Klan. That also happened mostly in the South. No one has ever said that was right, but the Klan is full of stupid people.Comment

I am referring the to numerous concentration camps around the world and the reign of terror, torture and murders instigated on several nations by the SOA at Fort Benning in the US.
The population of Germany said exactly the same thing about the concentration camps operated in Europe - "We play no part in what our government does".
But, ironically you feel you can bitch at a webmaster from Germany, although he played no role in the activities of the Third Reich.
Bitching is nothing in comparison to the trail of torture and murder inflicted on thousands of innocent people - you have nothing to feel proud about in your country's contribution to that conduct.Comment

I don't drink alcohol and unlike you I have a life. It is not full of crying on GFY on what the big bad USA did. Yeah we are guilty of everything that goes wrong in the world, hope that thinking makes you feel better.Comment

I am an idiot now?? Don't think so.
Now your wording has developed into "our whole country did not hang people from trees". Neither did all the people in the Third Reich send people to gas chambers.
Same with the purported defense of claiming that hangings and lynching "happened mostly in the South". Most of the gassing in concentration camps happened in Auschwitz and Trebenka. What has the geographical location have to do with it? It happened in Germany the same way blacks were hung from trees in the US.Comment

Millions of people were not hung from trees. Millions of people were killed in Germany. You can't even compare the two. Find another thing we have done that has killed millions of people and then we can talk about that.Comment

Between August 2002 and August 2006 98 detainees are confirmed to have died in the custody of US officials abroad. The US military has classified 34 of these deaths as confirmed or susected homicides. In over half of the total 98 deaths cause of death was never anounced or reported as "undeterminded" At least 8 have been confirmed to have died as direct result of torture methods used in interrogation. In only 12 of the admittd homicides has anyone received formal punishments. the longest punishment resulting for a torture related death in this period, a whopping 5 months.
All of the following interrogation techniques as well as others were given formal written approval by Donald Rumsfeld in the 2002 Army Field Manual.
1. dress the detainee in orange coveralls, shackle the wrists and ankles. place heavy boots on the feet, plugs in the ears, and a hood over the head. bag the hands in thick fabric and tape them. he stands while you sit. if he slouches you beat him. this continues for hours, perhaps days. if he urinates himself, you laugh and ridicule the detainee...
2. you turn the lights on and off at unscheduled intervals over a period of days weeks, or months. if he asks what time or date it is, you do NOT respond. You deny all requests, you do not verbally respond to any plea. After weeks the detainee will quit asking questions all together.
3. if the detainee refuses to eat, he is placed in a restraining chair and force fed. he is to be force fed until he vomits, at which point he is stripped and forced to lay in his own vomit.
4. females guards are authorized to strip the detainees, taunt them, straddle them, force them to wear women's under garments and tell them their mothers and grandmothers are whores. if he continues to be uncooperative it is acceptable to put the detainee on a leash and beat him...
5. if at any time the detainee attempts to sleep, this is a good time to blast pop music at ear shattering volumes through his holding cell.
6. at any time during this procedure it is acceptable to introduce dogs into the equation.
7. detainees may be strapped to a inclined board, with the feet above the head. at which point you can tell the detainee that it is certain, you are going to kill him. you can now submerge his head repeatedly in frigid water. if he passe sout, revive him and continue.
8. if the detainee at any time requests to be killed, or to kill himself, deny it and continue with the procedure at hand.
Those doing interrogations are assured that it is perfectly acceptable to deconstruct the detainees sanity until the point at which they will agree to anything, including the absolute impossible. Interrogators are assured they will not be held accountable for their actions, they will not be punsihed, and that they are doing a greta service to their country. They are assured they are not torturers, not according to their superiors or their leaders...

Now it has reached the level of "how little" blacks were hung from trees. How far will you actually go to attempt to defend the indefensible?
Are you aware that your government trained and supported regimes of terror and provided torture training and "population management" to rogue leaders - who they also trained??
There is nothing on this planet which can be provided as an excuse for killing thousands of innocent people. Take one country alone - ask the survivors of the 30,000+ people who had a bullet in the head or were tortured, thanks to US training, in Chile.
How many black lynchings does it take to become significant and upset your cosy fantasy world?? How many hours of torture does it take to make you step into reality??Comment

I guess it's OK since we didn't kill them all. Forcing them off their lands and killing those that didn't move certainly isn't a bad thing, right? I guess with your reasoning, Hitler gave the Jews places to live in the Concentration Camps.
The government had many KKK members in it. It had many who supported the hanging of blacks. It had many that didn't protect blacks.
The Japanese in the US had nothing to do with the war or starting it. That's like saying we should lock up every Muslim because they "brought us into the war" when they had nothing to do with it. Hitler thought locking up Jews were for good reasons. Only difference is that we didn't gas them.
The large majority of slave trade was done by white males in the US. These included Presidents, members of Congress, and local officials. Is your defense for slavery that blacks sold some of their own people too?
You just made my point right here. America has changed a lot, just as Germany has. To trash a German on this board for something that happened 70 years ago is as ludicrous as trashing an American here for slavery or the murdering of Native Americans. The Germany you describe is nothing like the Germany of today. Just as the American of the past I describe is nothing like the America of today.Comment

I dont understand. The US army is supposed to be there representing the entire country, how is what they do not representing the president? Witht that argument you can excuse just about anything. Listen I hear what you are saying. I am just sick of always seeing the American bashing on here. I personally do not like most of what the government does. There is nothing that we as citizens can do. Yes we do vote, and people did vote George Bush in again. There is nothing that we can do about that. Japan tried to kill American civilians (and did) as well. If they could have reached the US, they would have dropped a bomb on us.
It was a military decision, and the invasion of Japan would have caused more civilian deaths and US military deaths. The fact is put a quick end to the war was a huge factor, as both sides were racking up large civilian deaths (look up Japan's scorched earth policy). Japan was being blockaded, which meant many people were starving. They were also holding other countries hostage and using their citizens as slave labor.
The bombs cost a lot of lives, but it was a decision that may have prevented many more in the long run.Comment

rich americans families at the head of american industrialization in the late 1800's and early 1900's, most notably the Rockafellers, were funding German Eugenics research right up to AND through WW2. They even went as far as to provide refuge for german eugneics research to continue in america post ww2...Originally posted by JaneBFind another thing we have done that has killed millions of people and then we can talk about that.
We can get into inhumane pharmaceutical testing on foreign populations, the funding of unrelated conflicts all over the world, the lack of attention it pays to it's own people, and so on and so on. The US is not alone in leaving a trail of death and destruction - the same applies to a number of nations.
It may be relevant to point out that the only reason there is an international despising of the US is because there is apparently an inability to learn from history and to quit getting in the faces of other nations.
It is inevitable you will get what you call "American bashing" especially when current events more than qualify for that "bashing".
That has nothing to do with US people - tho they were obviously dumb enough to elect a retard to start with, - but, despite that - the vast majority of people still don't blame the US people or anyone other than the deviant and corrupt government.
Jane.. this too, will pass, but it will not be forgotten.Comment
