I'm not sure what your budget is and if you're going for just a nice drink after dinner or a bottle for the house, but this is by far the BEST drink I've ever had.
Depends how much you wanna pay... if you have $200 for a good bottle get some Hennesy XO.
If you want some cheaper I like hennessy and courvoisier, remy martin etc... the popular brands pretty much.

I bought my father a bottle of Louis x111 but he hasnt opened it yet lol. If your budget is in that range then its amazing, or maybe a bottle of Richard Hennessy which is usually a bit dearer.
Actually I think you will find really good cognac only in some deep places of France or Armenia. Those drinks they sell us in supermarkets (including Hennessy XO) is just a commercial bullshit but not a real thing
what cyberxxx said, the real stuff is available in the southern parts of France, no label, fucking expensive and no they do not ship they could not care less.
so check the local liquor stores since you can not get a hold on the real stuff.
depending on your budget,Remy VSOP is always a good thing, its smoother than most others mentioned in this thread. Courvoisier is also a good choice, though not as smooth as Remy. Always look for the VOSP (Very Special Old Pale) in anything you buy it wont rip your troath out
I drink Courvoisier XO Imperial which is a mid-level (but still pretty pricey) offering and the Initiale Extra on special occassions. I haven't tried their true Napoleonic offerings as my budget doesn't allow, but at some point I'll cough up the extra pesos for the 200+ year old
