    todays checking acct balance

    Total $246,796.46

    I hate bragging, but how many of you are this liquid? as in, if you wrote a check today, could you cover this amount. personal checking account.

              I keep 90% of my extra cash in my brokerage account .. In a Money Market account. I just have a check cut if needed. I don't think my personal checking account ever has more then $30-$40k in it tops ..

                          Same here. I just have a check book that I can write checks to myself directly from my brokerage account. Why not earn a % when you can.

                              now that you say it . i have the same. a check book that pulls right from the brokerage account. I never really use it because if I'm not buying stocks it just kinda sits like a savings account.

                                      Congrats! But unless you have a real need to have that much liquidity that money could be doing much better things for you. At least do some staggered CDs or something with 50 to a 100k. Please tell me at least you have an interest bearing checking account.

                                                                                                      I use cash when shopping, and Visa when I need large amounts. There is no real use for a personal checking account where I live, and I dont see why anyone would need it in this time of ago.

                                                                                                      I use my webbank when making bussiness transactions. That way I cant get screwed over without the bank covering my loss

You have an account, which does everything a checking account does, but doesn't allow checks. A savings account is a checking account that accumulates interest, you can have checks too, or not.
