    remote db hosting gripes w 1and1

    Curious

    Does any1 use 1and1 for remote db hosting. If so, how'd u do it? I'm on the phone with them and they dont seem 2 know how 2 enable remote db access

    If it is shared server, they may not allow it. The mysql server has to be setup to allow it as well. Here is an article on how it is setup on the server side:

      1and1 sucks, personally. I've used them in the past and they were horrible. The biggest problem with remote database hosting is that it can cause security issues on shared servers.
      'cuz you're too busy dealing with other stuff to mess around with bad hosting!

        1and1 is one of those companies that people go with for a wesite for their store, or little business site.. there really not the greatest, their popular sure, thats cause they advertise all over, but their not really configured well i dont think... check out the link below for certifiedhosting their way better..
