I disagree. They got paid what they considered a fair price, and I got a legally licensed copy.
I should add that I
was in school at the time, though as a student it would have still cost me about $200. As faculty, my friend got it for under $30. Why? Her job did not require it. She didn't have to provide any other documentation than showing her faculty ID. It's a perk of the job out there to be taken advantage of by those who have the contacts and resources.
