best flash player for mobile sites?

We are finishing up on our mobile version of crazyshit, and I was wonder what some of you are using for videos? Of course andriod and the bunch can do flash, so what's a good player for that?

What about iphone? use html5? Videos are supposed to be in mp4 right?

    Your thoughts?

I'm a total noob on mp4. Can you get the same quality and file size like on flash?

You can have HD quality with MP4.

Use HTML5 for video. Every real web browser is now supporting this. This means you can use the same technology on your main sites as well as your mobile sites.

Interesting. I didn't know html5 was that adopted yet. The thought of redoing 20k worth of videos to mp4 does not seem too awesome.

Especially good for iPhones. It is natively built into Safari for iOS.

Just remember to gracefully degrade to support older browsers. Or support the advancement of web technology and urge your users to upgrade to newer browsers, only takes a couple of clicks!

If you need more info in using the right formats for each browser, check out these resources:-

                  http://diveintohtml5.org/video.html
                  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTML5_v...rowser_support

The only problem is, unlike Flash where you have only one file format (.flv) you have 3 major formats: Ogg, H.264, VP8.

Luckily, this is easy to implement.

Like I said, every major new browser has HTML5 support.

You can batch encode your videos by reading this guide here:-

                    http://diveintohtml5.org/video.html

Basically, all new versions of Chrome & Firefox will support OGG and VP8. Safari and Shitternet Explorer will suport H.264.

Remember, MP4 is only a container file like AVI. The above are the raw formats.

We did ours in mp4. Use vbr for the trailers on the mobile tours as helps with the fast action parts.

                                So the saga continues.

On mp4's. We have sorenson squeeze. What or how is the best way to render them? We don't have a h.263 option on there. Is h.264 good?
