Is your program ready to cancel accounts owned by the codec trojan guys?

Let's say a group of people sat down and spend lots of hours documenting which accounts these guys owns (video taping the actual ID switching on an infected computer) would your program then let the first month of income to this group as a thanks for the work and then have the account shut down?

    Who would do this?

Not worth the effort. Most programs don't care where the traffic comes from, as long as the card is good and there are no chargebacks.

You would likely get further using proxies, bad credit cards, and signing up tons of people until these morons get their accounts cancelled (but I wouldn't recommend it).

IMHO, I think the affiliate programs need to start taking action, because many of them have things in their terms and conditions that could leave themselves open for class action for failure to protect the rights they grant affiliates, and "disloyal competition". In particular, sites that buy traffic from toolbar companies targetting their own domains means that they are entering into competition against their own affiliates by profiting from the affiliate's traffic without payment, which is a real issue.

The programs need to understand that they cannot operate fast and loose without someday paying the ultimate price.

We found an aff. doing this, we deleted his account and contacted some program owner friends, all 9 programs cancled his account as well.

So yeah, "most programs" do care...most.

dont think so. traffic will be redirected to page with warning about infected pc - since uninstalling this stuff from surfers pc will return original affiliates ids.
and i really not sure what here will be alot of traffic after account closing.

interesting, of course i think paysite owners should suspend payment to their accounts.

On a slightly different angle, why don't the virus checkers/spyware detectors pick this codec/spyware up and even if they can't fix it, warn you??

I don't like the fact that the group would receive a payout because there is no way of telling if someone is try to set some one up. But what i would like to see sponsors do who do term there affiliates given a % of money to a pot of the termed affiliate. Now that pot would be handed off to a organization like the cancer foundation or some thing....

                          Tolik, that's a great idea.

Also, talking to other program owners about the offender is a good idea as well.

I would also send the offender's name to the feds if he is in the usa and his local gov if outside of the USA. They are actually pretty hard on the spyware issue, not to mention there's actual monetary theft involved. Over $500 is a serious offense.
I've trusted my sites to them for over a decade...

Most programme owners are honest people - They wouldn't want to receive sales that had been (in effect) stolen - So would cancel the offending account - Redirecting these hits to a "You are infected" type of page would be a simple solution.
My programme (harlotcash.com) is only a small micro niche programme and is usually unafected by these types of scams - But, if some cunt thought they could use us for this type of stuff, I would redirect their traffic as soon as I found out and also cancel the thief's account.

most of my traffic comes to LongBucks program with my aff. id - so i does not wanna lost any profit by myself ;) it why i think what usual termination of accounts is not enough.

i'm not sure about "paying" the entire payout to the "detective" but a small bonus might be a great idea if the program owners want to be more than ok - they can donate the rest (or even a part of it) to something good.
