Hotel charges and charities - WTF ???

ok - so just checking out of the Marriott and I'm seeing $14.22 charge on the bill for Habitat for Humanity

fine cause - I've donated to them in the past
    but

I never authorized such a charge - why do they throw it on the bill without asking me first? is this normal? anyone see this type of thing before?

Normally I hardely ever look at the bill - just happened to scan it quick this time.. just wish they would have asked before throwing this extra 'fee' on there..

    RIP TD

My guess would be that it's a promotion they're having where they donate a % of your bill to the charity on your behalf and they've decided to itemize it so you know.

If that's not the case and the $14.22 is an extra fee on top of the hotel stay, I wouldn't be happy at all.

just talked with them - they said its a 'new' thing that they are trying out based on a % of the bill - most people don't mind but if I didnt want it they are willing to take it off..

they are saying that it benefits the local chapter..

I'm cool with it - will pay it - just think they should say before hand as an 'option'

anyways this place is nice and I recommend it to anyone that wants to stay: Los Suenos Marriott - http://www.lsrm.com/hotel.html
