I believe history books will say WWIII started on Sept 11, 2001.

There will never be another war like WWII. A real mans war. Now they just drop laser guided bombs on everything like pussies.
I can tell you stories of my great grandfather fighting in that war. As a Nazi!
My dad was a gunner on the USS North Carolina in the pacific war. He told stories about watching a man get cut in half by strafing fire, and a Kamikaze attack that put shrapnel inside of his eyeball.
He knew how to make me feel like a pussy -- and I served in Desert Storm.

My grandmother grew up in Nazi Germany. Her father was a low rank SS officer. Browncoat or brown shirt I think they were called. Basically "Enforcers". He had no choice really.
yes, as man gets more civilized we fight our wars like pussies. Just 150 years ago the civil war was much more brutal than WWII. And think of the wars before muskets...fought with arrows and swords. And before that, guys going at each other with clubs and spears. Thats when men were real men.

as gruesome as that point is, and I do not feel that 21st century soldiers are pussies by any standard... I have to admit that ancient battles had to have been some of the most horrendous events in world history. The smell, the sounds and the intimacy of it all.... I wonder what they called Post Traumatic Stress Disorder back then? a bad day

you watch too many movies and believe they are real... war is war, a soldier is a soldier...

I agree with the war is war, a soldier is a soldier
but
there is simply no comparison between a 500 yard kill shot from behind cover on an air support softened target to charging across an open field with sword in one hand and a heavy ass shield in the other.
the movies I watch are documentaries and I would consider myself a history buff as well as a former soldier
Here is one tiny example of how things have changed in my short lifetime. When I was in the Corps we "humped" everywhere. That is slapped an A.L.I.C.E. on our back and stepped out to wherever we were going to go. Didn't matter if the movement was 2 miles or 20, we humped that bitch there and back and felt a cattle car was a luxury.
I do not see a lot of walking nowdays, they have APCs and HumVees. Luxuries to me. Does that make the soldiers today pussies in my eyes... no, just as I stated in my previous post

I don't think we'll ever see a world war again. In order for a world war to take place, it would have to mean everyone is in on it - including China. All of the countries in the Middle East combined really don't have the firepower that the US or China has, and they surely don't have the organization.
Come to think of it, all of the countries don't have the ability to strike out at us. It's not like Iran has military bases around the world it can launch an attack from.
Take it from U.S. Marine Major General Smedley D. Butler "war is a racket". Its the biggest moneymaker war is a coming.......

"I spent 33 years and four months in active military service and during that period I spent most of my time as a high class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism. I helped make Mexico and especially Tampico safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefit of Wall Street. I helped purify Nicaragua for the International Banking House of Brown Brothers in 1902-1912. I brought light to the Dominican Republic for the American sugar interests in 1916. I helped make Honduras right for the American fruit companies in 1903. In China in 1927 I helped see to it that Standard Oil went on its way unmolested. Looking back on it, I might have given Al Capone a few hints. The best he could do was to operate his racket in three districts. I operated on three continents."
