Ok, here's the deal. Some of you might be confused as to why AWE is now the high bidder. As evidenced by recent events, Juicy removing his sig from the donation list changed the dynamics of the auction. All hard feelings aside, it was his right to do it and he was certainly under no obligation to keep it there. Therefore, DieselAction decreased their bid which, again all hard feelings aside, they had a right to do. Decreasing their bid to $9,000, however, makes it null and void since there was a higher bid on the table from other sponsors.
Now you might be asking, "why not have it revert back to AWE's bid of $14,000?", and the answer is because they wouldn't have bid that high if DieselAction hadn't entered their $13,000 bid.
This is how the bidding went:
MakeFuckingMoney ($9,000) ---> AWE ($9,500) ---> DieselAction ($13,000) ---> AWE ($14,000) ---> DieselAction ($16,000)
All the bids in red disappear. With DieselAction retracting their high bid and changing it to a $9,000 dollar bid, we're treating the auction like this:
MakeFuckingMoney ($9,000)/DieselAction ($9,000) ---> AWE ($9,500)
I do hope this clears it up. It's a shame that the drama whirlwind hit this auction thread but I suppose that, given the GFY environment, it was inevitable. If AWE has any concerns about their current bid, please contact AfterShockMedia or myself so we can resolve them as soon as possible!
Another big thank you to the sig donors and the bidders so far. Let's see if we can get more!

time to update DamageX, he already asked twice to get his info updated, so please update it.
now why not giving it a week to get webmasters think about giving their sig for the cause and then sell the final outcome in another post to any sponsor with the last bid as starting bid.
if the above sounds not to confusing.Comment

now this is about sigs only, right?
what about people wanting to offer other items within this "auction" ?
as in I am willing to offer free bannerspace ( max 460 x 80 ) to the winner of this auction on all my silly sites or I can fly a banner with text like " Bhound is an old fart and should leave the industry " to give you an idea.Last edited by Guest; 06-09-2007, 02:56 PM.Comment

Sands, let me explain you something, while its getting pathetic already, I will try at least to explain you why you take it in wrong direction one more time.
The value has been changed and I have reduced my bid. Now you really dont know if AWE will bid it on level of 9500$ now after all, you decide it for them. What you are doing is you are pushing them to do so and this is not really nice because first of all you may end up again with a problem of AWE accusing you and cancel the bid and second this is just not a right way to do it. So you open another risky hole for another drama. Assuming AWE will like to bid 9500, they will do it anyhow with much better feeling. And what happen in case they wont take the bid? You will come back to me with a 9k$ bid or claim it from MakingFuckingMoney? Guys this is an auction for your friend and you soon end up suing the bidders. Think 2 moves ahead.
Just my 2 euro cents....Comment

Hi Diesel. You're correct in that we don't know if AWE will still want to maintain their bid of $9,500, but I am sure that they're aware that we've designated them as the high bidder at that amount and if you read my previous message, you'll have seen that I urged them to get in contact with myself or AfterShockMedia in case they want to change it. I'm not trying to put the pressure on them, I'm just trying to maintain some structure to this auction and I feel it would be unfair if you inherited the high bid when the last highest was AWE.Sands, let me explain you something, while its getting pathetic already, I will try at least to explain you why you take it in wrong direction one more time.

And yes, if they don't want to maintain their bid of $9,500, then we'll have to decide if it's yours or MakeFuckingMoneys. Before you decide whether it's pathetic or not, try to understand the position that Juicy's exit and your bid reversal has put us in. This wasn't a precaution that we planned for because, quite frankly, we didn't expect our biggest sig donor to withdraw in such a grand fashion.
I'm sorry if you're feeling shortchanged here, but I'm confident that this is the fairest course of action. If you're concerned with AWE's standing in this auction, then I suppose the best thing to do is to let them speak for themselves.
I do appreciate your input, and I await your response.Comment

Am I feeling shortchanged? I had this feeling before I reduced the bid.........our biggest sig donor to withdraw in such a grand fashion.

I ended up with 16k bid for something I didnt bid for. I had my reasons to bid as I had the same reasons to reduce the price as you say in grand fashion, now that was supposed to turn it into positive energy, gaining much more sigs and attracting much more bidders with a much better feeling. Instead of it, it turned into some childish slam FAKE drama which put ASM in stress and bidders looking to get rid of this auction rather than join it and thats why I call it pathetic.
Less you are talking about the money and bidders, higher the chances it will grow.Last edited by diesel; 06-09-2007, 04:35 PM.Comment

My two cents.
Diesel (and all of the bidders and sig donations) did a great thing bidding... but I agree, the value or "perceived value" of what diesel was bidding on changed enough for him to change his bid.
I would do the same thing (rethink my bid I mean). Anyone would. I certainly don't hold it against you diesel.
Someone made the point if you are bidding on a car then later during the auction find out it has something missing that changes things. It does.
Let's get the bids rolling on the merits of what we do have to offer which is a lot.
All of this discussion is a distraction to the real cause here, helping ASM.

I certainly understand how you felt shortchanged before you reduced the bid. You said that you bid mainly because Juicy's sig was part of the list, and we definitely understand why you reduced it afterwards.Am I feeling shortchanged? I had this feeling before I reduced the bid.

I want you to understand that I'm not questioning your decision to reduce the bid amount. You bid in full confidence that Juicy's sig would be part of the package, and when it no longer was, that was impetus to change. It's understandable.
A few rogue posters did the "fake slame drama", not myself nor ASM. Bare in mind that there were multiple parties to the childishness.
I'm not quite sure what you mean by "less you are talking about the money and bidders, higher the chances it will grow". It must be addressed so the auction can continue its course for new bids.
I must say again that I do appreciate this dialogue with you and I do look forward to another response

You're absolutely correct! Let's see if we can infuse this with the positive spirit it began with!My two cents.

so where are we standing on this now?Carbon is not the problem, it makes up 0.041% of our atmosphere , 95% of that is from Volcanos and decomposing plants and stuff. So people in the US are responsible for 13% of the carbon in the atmosphere which 95% is not from Humans, like cars and trucks and stuff and they want to spend trillions to fix it while Solar Panel plants are powered by coal plants
think about thatComment
