well, even though you think you're arguing against what I said, you're giving me the reason: WP is an ENGINE to do ANYTHING you may dream of. As for your points:

yes, you're right. Then again, I don't think it's a problem to have 1000+ mods (I think you fell extremely short) as opposed to have... 0.

I might agree here, although the default one is pretty decent IMHO. The beauty of WP is you have a couple million layouts to choose from. If you think those layouts suck, then... YOU CAN DO YOUR OWN!!!! (as opposed to be constrained to a few customization options like in 99.99% of scripts)
- To much work for what you get out of the box
The point is nobody mentioned a good "out of the box" script, while WP is, hands down, 1000x times better than ANY other script. You might need to tune up? Maybe. But think about this: a) MAYBE you won't need to change it, depending on your needs ; b) YOU HAVE THE OPTION TO DO IT!!!!! (as opposed as you get some crap and bear with it) and last but not least: I don't know of ANY successful company that uses "out of the box" solution, they all have needs and requests that need customization. Off the helve scripts are for people who doesn't have any special request. Again, Business 101. It's like saying " I found this great amazing office for rent, the price is incredible, the location is perfect, but I don't like the paint color, so... IT SUCKS!"
