It's hard to believe that's real every time you see it... -

Near the end, you can see a few cars speeding away from the oncoming waves. Damn.Comment

Yea, wonder if he made it and what percentage of the cars being swept along had passengers.

I have no words for all this,it´s unbelievable!!!
I´ve noticed something in that video and don´t know what it is??
Could be a missile,a helicopter (i don´t think it´s one)...???
Check the top left corner at 0:50 and you´ll notice something flying through the whole landscape (from left to right).

i'm looking at the video.
here, i will break it down for you.
17 seconds in until 1:25, that's not a wall. that water is 3-4 feet deep/tall. hardly a wall.
2:00-->end. not a wall, ~3-4' deep. hardly a wall.
so, let's see, ~3:30 of that 4:20 minute video is of the leading edge of the tsunami clearing showing it is 3-4 feet of water.
not sure what you were looking at.Comment

i'd say it's gotta be something like that, also heard a helicopter that is distorted from compression?
thing with the errant gas tank theory is why does it continue to sprout that white stuff, and why does it looked controlled?Comment

So tell us dyna mo, what is your definition of a "wall" of water? 4 feet? 10 feet? 100 feet?i'm looking at the video.

High enough to park boats on dry land? 3,430 News references to Japanese Tsunami as "wall of water"
"In the midst of all the death and destruction left in the wake of the 30-foot wall of water that ravaged northern Japan Friday, there was at least one piece of good news. A boat swept away in the tsunami caused by the 8.9 magnitude quake and feared lost at sea has been found with all aboard alive, Jiji Press reported." >Source NY Daily News<

quoting the news simply reinforces my point that the term is misused. if you haven't realized yet that the news organizations are over-sensationalizing this story to the nth degree, i can't help you.High enough to park boats on dry land? 3,430 News references to Japanese Tsunami as "wall of water"
the pictures and video speak for themselvesComment

"over-sensationalizing"?! LOL... half of Japan is fucking gone. Get a grip dude.SIG TOO BIGComment

don't worry about me, you seem overly concerned with my views. i can't help it if you are not capable of seeing how the media is over-sensationalizing the story with over-the-top reporting. it's bad enough as it is.Comment

ha ha I love a good debate!
Your point is that perception is subjective. Point taken

My perception is that three feet of water didn't do this. The average height in Japan is 1.715 meters. What is a wall to them might not be to me.

3 feet of water did not do that. obviously, the water level increased dramatically and quickly to the levels (30' in places) that caused that sort of destruction. but as you can see by the pictures, the leading edge was no wall of water that moved ships like that.Comment

You are viewing the term "wall" incorrectly. It isn't the height of the water that is important, but the width. And the width of that water more than qualifies as a wall of water.SIG TOO BIGComment

so if i run a piece of ribbon across a room, that ribbon is a wall because it has width. incorrect.Comment
