What have you had better results with, linking from a post to a gallery, or directly to the tour?

I do both, can't really say what is best. If you concentrate on mostly SE traffic to your blog, linking directly to the tour might work better but if you try and build bookmarkers and traffic, gallery would be better IMO

Link to the gallery. When a hit goes out to a tour from a thumb or something, I think surfers expect to see free content. Linking a thumb to a tour is a "blind link" in my opinion.
Keep linking to free content and your numbers to a sponsor may be less, but your rations will improve and you might just pick up some more bookmarkers because we tread lightly on the surfer.

The thing is traffic on my blogs is mainly from yahoo and I don't believe in giving away free content, if a surfer wants to jerk off he has to get his credit card out

How are your ratios? When we developed the OCCash RSS we did all links to tours from thumbs and stuff. I don't think there is any one case of "just to one" or "just to the other" - I think when surfers click shit they ought to know where they are going, otherwise you lose their trust and probably your bookmark.

It's a simple equation: Use embeded video for your blogs free content and link them to the tour with some solid text links that are not blind. That way, even if they are not impressed with the free content you gave them they are still clicking around on your blog and you have another chance for a sale!
What do I know anyways? I'm just some douche-bag that smoked crack and spent time in prison, but still wound up multi-mil!

Yeppers. Depends what type of blog you have, and what type of sites you're promoting. As usual it takes some thought and tinkering.
I think if you have a good blog with embeded vids, pics, great text, then you should have the surfer ready right there to go to the tour. The tour is specifically desiged to convert sales, that's where your programs hard work in creating a kickass tour comes in.
If you're just using feeds, then yeah, a gallery is going to be useful. Though I still tend to think the less the surfer has to click around the better. If you're going to link to a gallery, make sure it's a good one that clicks through in all the right places as that extra step is where you could lose a sale.
