This is supposed to be a week thing:
One week one tour.
I am willing to bet there are a few that have started this tour today..How will you be sure everyone starts at the same point..let alone on an even playfeild? This is a very good argument for having everyone use the same sets.
Post the zip file when the contest commences, and that is the first time anyone sees it.
It is real life, and evens the play feild.I was lost for something to write as a signature.

You can check the time stamp on images. Yes, you could just re-edit everything, but I really don't think anyone is going to do that. Even if someone does start today, it doesn't mean anything. A week is plenty of time. Time isn't the edge here, it's talent. If people want to cheat so be it, you can't stop them, but the whole point of this is just to have some fun and show off some designs. I think most everyone is looking at it that way.Comment

1. The niches would have to be preset. No question about it. Can be 5 niches to choose from.... 3.... or 1..... whatever. But there would have to be content for however many niches there's gonna be, because you can't do a teen tour with fetish content. Know what I mean?
2. This also means that everyone will have to use the same content sets.... (which is why 4 or 5 or 6 different niches to choose from would be nice) and that means we need a content provider to sponsor this thing and provide the sets that are to be used in the tours. Any content providers out there wanna step up to this? If there are multiple content providers that are willing to do this, we could have the 5 or so niches, and have the providers sponsor one niche each. If you choose to do that niche, you use the content assigned to it.
if this is something that works for everyone, hey.... I'm flexible.... I'd do it this way too. Let your thoughts on this be known.... and especially the content providers.... because if we don't get them, we can't do it this way. I actually don't like the preset content set idea too much I think..... it severely limits the creativity process by not even being able to choose what you wanna use... let's scrap that idea and stick with the original plan..... too many restrictions and rules are gonna make this un-fun.

Here is an excellent idea on what to do with the tours after it's over that was just emailed to me:
The top three prize sponsors should receive the top three tours.
Sponsor donating the 1st place prize gets the 1st place tour.
2nd place prize sponsor gets the 2nd place tour.
3rd place prize sponsor gets the 3rd place tour.
this sounds workable to me.... except.... there's gonna be multiple prizes for each place, but only one tour for each place.

If we do the free for all way then for me it will cause a problem because one of my clients is sponsoring me by giving me all the content and the domain name and in return they keep the tour.

Hey Amp i have been following this thing since before tylo posted the SPAM for aeoln.com which is what started all this and i been tryin to set this poll thing up since the word contest came out of your mouth and even more so when the other dude got the GFYcontest domain i'm just wondering if we are going to do this thing lets have all the designers sign up thru a database (which i'll build and work with the other Techie) that way we have all the ppl who are going to do this thing
have them pick from 1-6 sets of content (if we get them) and they will have access to that content june 1st no sooner not a good idea to let anyone get a head start some ppl are faster then others but come on 2 weeks head start is way to long and will cause to many probs with timestamps and stuff.
with that said amp hit me up on ICQ 128496425 same goes for the other techie dude hit me up so we can get this back-end going for this thing and figure out the bugs

well, it was just a suggestion..... but I can see why there could be problems if a tour is promised to a sponsor beforehand....
but JPFDude is working on everything and keeping an eye on this thread, so we should know alot more tomorrow sometime..... for the most part, everything is pretty much already worked out..... and what I don't have answers to, he does..... so, don't stress over anything yet..... this will all make more sense soon. And then if there's some sort of problem with something, we've got time to get it all ironed out smooth.

- I would prefer a select few judges from the industry rather than everyone being allowed to vote. Firstly it increases the chance of cheating, secondly most people here have almost no experience with the adult biz - they're just newbies making galleries. There's no voting system that cannot be cheated if its open for all - IPs cookies can all be spoofed.
There was a competition on the AWI board for their logo with IP loggings and cookies, and someone got his logo right on top by voting multiple times and then admitted he did it too.
- Also, domain and content of our own choosing.
- My vote on flash is to allow it.
- And if people wnt to start designing now, so be it! We get better designs and stiffer competition that-a-way! It's just that there might be last minute rule changes (when the competition officially opens) that might just scrap the earlybird tours ;)Comment

heres the poll system i have set up now and how it works just noone is getting back to me on how or what they think we should change you name it i can change it on it you want tight security you got it you want ip,email,cookie and reg for each vote to count so they can't be counted again done so heres the way i have it set up now but we have to get ahold of JPYdude who has the GFYcontest domain and have him hook up with me if he's any kinda strong programmer we can make the 2 sites GFYcontest and aepolls.com work together so here it is

I dont think there's any way to stop cheating on a voting script, even if you include emails, registration, cookies and IPs.
Restricting voting to people registered on or before December 2001 seems a better idea to me so we have people with some experience voting.Comment

someone's always going to be able to rig it unless theres a "three wise men/women" panel of judges.. even if it's pre dec2001'ers you could round up a few old GFY mates on icq and get them to vote..
a few impartial voters sounds the best to me.. with a public poll system to declare the "popular choice"..
but even then. only 3 people mightn't be a broad enough range of tastes to be fair to everyone.... i don't mind either way.. and i don't want to get too finnicky over voting.. if someone wants to cheat.. whatever.. i don't understand that mentality.. anyone actually good enough to win isn't going to need it, so you'd soon know if a crappy design was beating killer ones that something was amiss.. it's about exposure and your art anyway.Comment

well, part of you guys are probably waiting for me to participate too... i'm not such a frequent guest on GFY, i read it sometimes. so this is why i din't post here before....
You guys will probably have fun doing the demo tours, but not me, i have orders and customers are waiting for their sites designed... everything is about time - i have no time for that...
i don't count me as good designer or skilled one.... i just do what i do.... being an adult web site designer does not mean that i can do paysite designs or i do very good ones... but it counts only, when i'm able to sell my designs - i mean when i get somebody to pay me for designing - to do business
i like to design sites, but it's not fun for me - it's business
i'm not scarried or so to participate, i explained why already...
So i wish good luck for all the designers and if somebody needs my opinion on something - you know how to find me...

I've read this whole thread and I'm really looking forward to seeing everybody's work. I see there's questions regarding the usage of Flash, and though I'm staying out of that one, I'd like to know what constitutes a 'weird' plug-in... some of my tours include vid content, and I guess I'd like to know if that's outright banned in this competition, or if it would be okay for a vid-based niche tour...
Also, finally, are there any limitations on categories? I understand lolita, kiddy, beastie, rape, etc. are common sense no-nos, but I was wondering if watersport, fisting, gothic, etc. are all valid choices.
If not, I'm sure I can go with something a little less... specialized
