Who the fuck owns this place for real?

and why the hell can't they afford to run a forum that has a search feature that actually works? What kind of half-ass shit is this? Not to mention, what kind of new owners buy a bullshit forum that barely works and doesn't do a damn thing about improving it or fixing? Lazy, cheap ass bastards. It's no wonder half the industry acts like they're all on welfare.

On another forum maybe there are only 2 posts per day but a quick search takes you immediately to the most recent results you were looking for. Here? Truth is that most of the best programmers / designers do not work in the adult industry nor have they for ages - GFY is run on the cheap.

With that said, most here accept GFY for what it is despite its numerous limitations ... a free meeting place to mostly shoot the crap while picking up / trading some business ideas along the way. Plus often acts as a defacto support forum for many affiliate programs, billers, etc ... and of course a well known advertising venue, though its utility for that has greatly waned as the on-line adult industry continues to consolidate.

I'd think maybe vbulletin search isn't coded very well but larger vbulletin forums don't seem to have any problem keeping their search feature working. Maybe it's a trick to get more posts created, because people can't do a simple search to find sponsors for their niche traffic so they have to post new threads instead.

With the new ownership, I have instructed them that the search should be the number 1 priority. They have decided to make it so. vBulletin search does suck, but there is a better option. We have already located it and it will be implemented as soon as possible.

With the purchase there is still a handing over phase, as GFY is not just a simple turn over the keys and you are off type of situation. There are many pieces to the puzzle. Some of these pieces are taking a bit more time than the new owners would have hoped, and in turn is delaying some of the changes that would have liked to been seen before now.

As for the Personal Messages, Images Uploads, and Galleries issue, there are specific reasons as to why those are turned off. Image uploads and Galleries would cause a number of issues... 2257, monitoring, etc. Personal Messages were originally turned on in the forum, but the spam that ensued was insane so the feature was turned off. This is not to say that we are not discussing options for some form of the above, but at this time Search and some other items are toward the top of the priority list.
