I can't begin to fathom what runs through a persons mind when they are that age and making that kind of money. A dog is domesticated because someone took the dog in... and some people keep Chickens, Cows, etc for pets - and they will come right up to humans.

Dogs are food... a house pet may not be used normally as food, but if you were starving to death, you would eat that dog before you ate a human - and you would without question eat a human if you were starving - you can't stop from it.

I'd like to see professional athletes conduct themselves at a higher standard than this. I'm including Mark Buehrle in that. Vick paid his debt, served his time, and is not only rebuilding the career he always hoped for but he's making strides to atone for his stupidity. As long as he keeps on that path and keeps his inner scumbag in check I don't see myself sitting there like an angry juvenile wishing he'd get sacked to the intensive care unit on every new snap he takes. Buehrle comes off as pretty childish in that article IMO.

Yes, he did serve his time and according to our society, he is free to move on with his life as he should. The problem I have is that what he did really speaks to what kind of person he is. Making one mistake at one point in time is totally different from building an entire network to torture and kill dogs over years and years. Wasn't there some sort of electro-shock rack he built?

I know he says he loves dogs, but that sounds like the abusive guy who says he loves his wife, but beats her all the time and eventually kills her. There is some sort of mental disturbance in people who frame "love" like that. But, with all that being said, if he truly regrets what he did and continues to stay on the right path, then he has every right to continue with his career and make money and prosper.

I consider a dog, cat or any animal on this planet, no different than a bug or any other creature on this planet. It's your own personal emotional attachment to dogs that makes this an issue for you. You'll squash a fly, but not just capture it and take it outside - it's no different - other than your emotional attachment to dogs.

I'm not saying what he did was right, abuse to that level is never right.. but judging him based on personal choices, is probably the biggest human problem in the world. Mark Buehrle Is Ok With Killing Animals For Fun After All

Earlier this week, White Sox pitcher Mark Buerhle made some headlines by paying for the vet bills of a dog who was found with an arrow shot through it's abdomen. Remember that it was an arrow, that will be important later. Now, Buehrle whose wife is a big animal lover, actually admitted that he was hoping Michael Vick would get injured last year because Mark (most likely his wife) is still angry at him.

Let's forget for a moment that Mark apparently doesn't seeing spending two years in federal prison or losing all your money as "something bad." How do you suppose the great animal lover and defender Mark Buehrle spends his leisure time? He spends it killing animals. Thanks to Can't Stop The Bleeding for unearthing this gem.

Buehrle, Jim Thome, Jermaine Dye and A.J. Pierzynski took a bear-hunting trip following Saturday's victory, an excursion set up by Twins broadcaster Dan Gladden on the property of a friend. Buehrle made the only kill of the day, using a bow, but it turned into a memorable moment with Thome right beside him.

The quartet went hunting at about 6 p.m. CT, giving them about one hour before the sun set. The kill was made from about 20 yards away, and the bear ran about another 30 yards before going down. Buehrle plans to have the head stuffed and have a necklace made out of a bear claw. He added with a smile that Jon Garland expressed interest in getting one, too.

I'm sorry, I just don't see the huge jump here. Sure, he didn't torture animals like Vick did... I get that there are degrees. But he does kill animals purely for his own pleasure. And by the way, he does it with bow and arrows. So he's outraged that someone would shoot a dog with an arrow, but he finds killing other animals with an arrow totally cool. In fact it's fun. I just don't see how you can both murder animals purely for your own enjoyment and also be so taken aback by what Michael Vick did that you hope he gets injured.

You can be outraged by what Michael Vick has done in his past, and you can go out kill bears to make necklaces out of them... but you can't do both.

It's brutal and cruel. Have you ever watched videos of the dogs that lose? The ones that get electrocuted or drowned? I'm willing to bet you haven't.

He built a network of torture that served no purpose other than to make money from the suffering and abuse of animals. Not even close to the same thing as someone killing chickens for food.

Look, as those of you say, he did his time, blah blah blah...doesn't mean we have to forget he's a scumbag. If Charles Manson were released tomorrow would that be ok? should he be able to get meaningful employment and have everyone just forget about what he did? Remember, he didn't really kill anyone...he had others do it for him....

I'm not saying he didn't do his time, I just feel it wasn't enough time.

Is the only defense of this guy that he's talented? So, say he was a so-so carpenter or a ho-hum jizz mopper at the local jerk hut....would anyone be defending him the same way?

can't believe you'd compare someone who kills humans, to someone who killed dogs.
