    2257 inspections in Israel ?! is this for real ?

      The FBI/DOJ are not doing inspections outside of the US, sounds like the Israeli authorities nabbed him and he just decided to call it 2257.

      BTW, there's no preparing period, people are so grossly misinformed.

          I find it hard to believe this is a 2257 issue but because I am an Israeli resident myself I would like to know what reasons made this happen -

                              If authorities accuse someone, they should have evidences, and everyone should have the right to defend themself if they are accused. I think this guy is confused and mixed up US 2257 with his own laws.

                                      I don't think there are enough details on his site for us to know what's really happening, but it is interesting. And obviously if he was good to deal with it's a shame he's gone down. Though I don't condone lawbreaking it is the decent people we deal with that makes this a good industry to work in.

                                                              bottom line. we went through an inspection by the fbi a few weeks ago. they dont tell you to get ready, they show up. if they find shit wrong they give you one week to procure the docs they need. we were 10000000000% compliant so no issues. the fbi is not in israel doing inspections. lol.

"did the FBI, in full cooperation with Isreali authorities, fly to Isreal to simply to inspect someones records and enforce a US law that only applies to US webmasters when they have only done it a few times in the US"?

                                                                                          after talking with the agents that came to our spalce to inspect, there is no way in hell the gov is investing money in sending agents out of the country to do random inspections. if something was under investigation anyhow, then yes if they were going to shut a site down and serve warrants they would have to have the local authorities issue warrants and such. theres lots to it. so random inspection, hell no.

                                                                                              Listen according to the US DOJ they feel that if your site can be seen by peole in the US youare supposed to abide by US law. So yes if your sites can be seen in the US regardless of where you're hosted or what country you live in they expect you to comply with 2257. This isn't MY opinion this is the opinion of the US government. Now can they do anything to you if you don't comply? Doubtful. Unless you come into the US. If you're using US hosting they can make the hosting company shut your sites down, but if your completely non-US then no I wouldn't worry about compliance.

                                                                                              Now I'll add on caveat. US the has work with other countries to bust peole dealing in CP. Now I suppose if you are not complying with 2257 you can be considered to be a suspect in dealing in CP and they could use that angle to get you busted. Depends on your home country. I doubt some country like Holland or Denmark would help the US in comething like that, but conservative countries might.

                                                                                                                          Ok for example in england we have the obscene pornography law where if you market "strong" pornographic materials( you know those german sites) then you get in trouble. Now your telling me that if a german markets those sites then the english police are going to liase with the german police and make an arrest? sorry I dont see it happening. Even if his site is in english etc. I do however see your point and seeing as no example of this to do with 2257 has yet happend.
                                                                                                                          One can not argue conclusivley either way. I do not for one second believe however that this isreali had a 2257 problem.
