Oh yea, and no one is going to double the fee if they have two kids. They might at $2/h for each kid beyond the first.

That may be so...but how does geography affect a babysitting wage? Is this a rural/urban thing?

Depends on her qualifications. Is she trained in CPR etc?

My daughter fetched $15/hour and up but had a pretty wealthy clientele.

I usually pay $20 for the night(4-5hrs) but my kids are pretty easy to watch...

Ok Ontario has an hourly wages that range from 13.00 to 34.00 (canadian) per hour. Average would be 24.00 and in two family income houses that would be 48.00 an hour on average (btw this leaves out like fast food workers0.

By those numbers as a babysitter which is still stuck in nostalgia pay land. I would be thinking 5.00 per hour plus 2.00 for each additional child, plus an extra 2.00 hr for infant fee (kid in diapers still)

My thoughts, and tips still should come into play.

She has both her CPR training and St. Johns Ambulance babysitting certification, yes.

Perhaps it has to do much with the wealth of her clientel.

That should enable her to charge more. Quality help is hard to find. I am sure it did not hurt that her clients had the coin.

my nanny got #13/hr last summer.. that was daytime hours.. she was 20 yrs old and certified CPR and First Aid.

The neighborhood girls (13-17 years old) get like 5-8 per hour depending on how long we are gone.

Ontario, around where I live, the girls are charging $4-$5 McDonalds is paying those under 16 less than $7/hr I believe...and generally people pay babysitters less than "real" jobs. When you consider what the workers make a McD's...sitting around and watching TV while the kids sleep isn't all that bad of a job for $4-$5
