Not always true. Just because you have "line of site" does not mean you will have access to the satellite. I have a satellite phone that I use when out of the USA, I don't always have communication just because I have line of site. Depends where I am. If the host country does not want you to have a connection then you don't get one. Now on the other side of the coin, I use a secure satellite setup when I do contract work to have 24/7 communication back to the USA but the average person would not have access to that kind of equipment.
