Every Thursday evening my daughter and I make a special effort to go to dinner together. With her high-stress job, I feel she needs some respite, and she makes for great company, so it is a win-win situation.
We try to mix it up with the restaurants we go to so that we don't get into a rut, and tonight I suggested Italian. She agreed and suggested we go to Il Fornaio, since we had not been there in a couple years.
Somehow we got seated at the "chef's table," and all I can say is, wow.
They really made us feel special. Dinner for two, with wine, appetizers, and dessert for less than what I would spend at an Islands.
If you have an Il Fornaio near you, and have never gone, I would highly recommend it. The smoked salmon rocks.
