I went to one a few weeks ago because I had promised my girlfriend. There were a few people there who were probably really benefiting from it.
There was at least one guy who was clearly there just to have something to do. He was an old man who said he was in the Navy in WWII. He'd been sober for decades, yet still attends numerous meetings ever week. He was even talking about a "youth" AA meeting he attends regularly. I think it was pretty obvious AA had just become his social outlet since I'm guessing he doesn't get out much.Comment

I just got back from a step study, was at my home group last night. Yes AA does become part of your social life and that's what's called a fellowship, those same people will save your ass when you need it the most. Hanging with healthy minded people. I am actually going to one this evening. It's nice to see people her that know how to enjoy a good AA meeting.
I usually show up with a couple of 5th of Jack, get them drunk and have homosexuals suck their cocks while they are drunk. I film it.
I do similar things at Jenny Craig meetings and Weight Watchers meetings, but instead of booze I bring cakes.Comment
