    My creditcard has been compromised

I just received a call from VISA that somebody has tried to make payments with my creditcard in a fraudulent way.
Since I only use that creditcard for webmaster stuff I thought I should give a heads up here.
You might want to check your statements.

that sucks. im surprised that more credit card companies dont come out with a "safe pay" card that they send to you with a preset limit and expiration date.

BofA has one for online credit cards with is great, as you can set a limit and how long to keep it active, but I'd think this would be in decent demand for frequent travelers.

i use my Amex for everything tho, but have found a few times when someone gets the card number they quickly stop it and fedex me a new one next day

It sucks that somebody has tried to make payments with your creditcard in a fraudulent way. There should be a lot of security features with major banks. Good luck.

Someone could also steal your plastic credit card. In that case, they will be able to pay from your card (even if they don't know your pin number).

Happened to me a little while back too. Had around $18k taken from my account through a series of unauthorised transactions before I spotted it.

Yeah, watch out. The other day I got a text message from someone claiming to be from Regions Bank and that someone was using my credit card fraudulently. The only issue is that I do not use Regions Bank for anything, and my cell number hasn't changed in years and years. They wanted me to call back some 888 number... it was not associated with Visa or my Regions Bank.

I am pretty sure it was a phishing scam. The scammers are getting smarter and smarter these days. Be careful and skeptical of that call you received. Hopefully they were not trying to pull information from you.

The Visa I have is not connected to a bank (that I know off)
Good point with the phising. They did not ask me for information or make me call another number though. They just told me what happened and that they would be replacing my card. I have called Visa myself later on because I needed one more transaction to go through.
