I don't want to die. I just want to putt around and get out of the city on occasion.

It is a nice looking bike, but, I don't know about the mileage.

It's a cruiser, as long as you don't weight 95lbs you should be fine.

Being "too much bike" is really not the issue, its about how you choose to ride it, if you are just going to be a cruiser then its not important. use your head and keep an eye out for the idiots that don't look out for you...THATS the real thing to worry about.

It looks like a very nice bike, 25k miles in 5-6 years is OK but probably tells you the owner rode it regularly but not daily, the only issue I can see from the pics on CL is it looks like a bit of wear on the front brake rotor...

Do you have any riding experience or are you totally a 1st timer?

thanks for the tips. I have never owned or ridden anything but a dirtbike... and I stayed on road with that. I am not looking for anything but to cruise around on occasion and explore

                  you'll be fine.

decent/good price, it's a better price if it's fuel injected.

in fact, i'd show up to look at that bike with $8500 cash in my pocket and pending everything looking good, show the guy the cash money. i bet he'll take it.

HD's have a nice balance are easy to ride, doubt it's too much bike

                            Gotta agree there.

I'd buy a cheap one first and start riding. Depending on how frequent u ride the bike, buy a new one after 1 or 2 years.

I've had a few accidents with my zzr600 but to date not with my R1.

and i would take the bike (if you can) and do a test ride for at least half an hour to see if it's comfortable for you.

i have always been driving just enduros where the sitting position is totally different - i would not like to sit so low with stretched out arms. but this is of course just my personal taste, otherwise i think that bike looks totally fine.

The 2005 model of this was my very first bike:

I definitely busted that sucker up. My mechanic would come over and work silently, shaking his head the whole time.

thanks everyone. I am still shopping and thinking if I even want one... but that night train is top of the list for used bikes so far.

from the pics it looks pretty well taken care of. Before buying it get a mechanic to look at it, get a compression check. Harleys are work horses, if it was taken care of and not ridden the piss out of, you should get years of enjoyment out of it

Because they are very light, they are very peppy off the line. Really fun in the city.

                                                  - Yeah, let me know how that goes. Not too many people will let you take their bike out for a test ride.

Nice bike but a sporty would be plenty for you as a first bike.

You must know how big (or small) he is to make that determination. What if he is 6'5" and 245 lbs?

Just my but if it's your first bike ever I would go with something a little cheaper, like a used suziki gz. It's nowhere near as nice as that harley, but it is something you can put around your neighborhood on and if / when you lay it down you're not going to beat yourself up over it.

Around here you can find them for like a grand and then flip them for almost the same when you feel you're ready to graduate to something a little nicer.

I need something light (I'm a novice) and something nice to look at and own(toys)...as I will probably drive more than ride.

So people in the US are responsible for 13% of the carbon in the atmosphere which 95% is not from Humans, like cars and trucks and stuff and they want to spend trillions to fix it while Solar Panel plants are powered by coal plants
