Everyday US Soldiers Die In Iraq......

Almost as many (some days more) US Military die not serving in Iraq except the press has a death count going on and you hear about every death in Iraq.

It's still sad but the overall deaths of service members during peacetime is pretty close to what we now have in Iraq so you have to keep this in perspective.

Imagine if a police officer knocked on your door one day and said ?I am sorry but your son/daughter has been killed by a drunk driver? ?

42 more died today in alcohol related crashes. That makes it 882 total just this month alone!

It?s just out of control to have all of our young US citizens drinking for no other reason but to support alcohol companies.

Makes me mad!

There are a lot of deaths in peacetime, but it still isn't what it is today. Accidental deaths were always the primary cause, but those numbers have steadily declined since the 80's as technology advanced and new security measures took place.

I think we all expect some deaths in the military. But the number that stands out is hostile action deaths. Those are deaths that can be avoided by not entering pointless wars, and those numbers are significantly higher than any period since the Vietnam War era. So while I agree that deaths during peacetime are overlooked, we still see a significantly higher death toll right now than we have in a long time.

Every soldier has family, friends, and a life. I just can't say that them dying for this stupid war is ok since it matches the statistics.

In the 80's there were over 1000 military suicides per month and twice the amount of training deaths as deaths in Iraq right now but it was because there were a million ore troops back then.

Just by the numbers Iraq is safer then most large US cities so the press is
getting people all amped up on the Iraq deaths to build support against the war !

I love when people try and make these soldiers deaths less significant by quoting stats from other places or scenerios. These men and women were sent somewhere based on a lie and are dying for it. Thats about as shitty as it gets.

There were 2482 suicides in the entire decade of the 80's, not over 1000 a month. The rate, when compared to the number of military at the time is right on par with the national averages for suicide rates. It's hard to categorize those deaths as military deaths when that death rate would have occurred in the general population.

Which large cities are more dangerous than Iraq? I'd love to see the numbers on this.

The people of Iraq don't want us there.

Iraqi citizens are not willing to take up arms and fight the bad guys themselves. We train the Iraqi army and police forces, and they walk off the job.

Oil production in Iraq is way down since before the war.

Fewer people have running water and electricity since before the war. It is true that some people have them who didn't before the war (and the President loves to tell us about this), but it's totally offset by the bombing destruction.

Those photos you see of our men with happy kids, those kids just want candy. When they know there isn't candy, they are throwing rocks.

Our government earlier this year demanded that troops coming home NOT talk to the media about their experiences. Just last week they blocked access to video upload sites in Iraq. And of course there was the ban on photographing coffins. This government will do anything they can to filter the bad news.

Early in the war they had soldiers sign fake letters to home, and they were mailed to hundreds of local newspapers. The same exact letter ran in all those papers, signed by their local hero fighting in Iraq.


Every single person who got us into this war needs to be held accountable. Unfortunately once the entire American public gets around to recognizing all the bullshit, these guys will be retired collecting their government pensions.

When you consider the number of US casualties, that is a grain of sand in comparison to the deaths of Iraqi people. I don't see much consideration for them with a policy of not even attempting to keep a body count.

Truth is both US troops and those who live in Iraq will suffer far higher death rates than have been stated so far. The effects of depleted uranium will cause substantial deaths over the next ten + years and will make the current stats look like a blip on a graph. Will that be publicized? Nope - it will be avoided. But international orgs will keep a tally insofar as they can.

Only my but the decision to take any country into a war based on lies is beyond any reason and criminal in nature. No person on this planet has "rights" to send troops into any country based on lies - they also have no rights to kill any citizen of that country, attempt to create a "democracy", regime change or any other imposition.

Sure, there can be good from regime change, but that is not the responsibility of the US government - it never has been.

At the same time, no person has the right to squander taxpayers funds on "elected wars" - any leader exists to "serve", not squander or make up excuses as to why this invasion was necessary.

OK.. US troops may have elected to serve, but that does not mean their offer of serving can be abused. Even worse, when you think many of these guys are kinda young and possibly doing what they can to get thru college etc - many of them will have their lives totally screwed by this "war" and numbers will die prematurely years after the "war" involvement is over - due to leukemia and other DU related diseases - or to use the euphemism, "Gulf War Syndrome".

Even worse, is the damage to Iraq and it's people - they will suffer to a level far exceeding that of US troops and have an infant mortality rate the highest in the world (again due to malformations and effects of DU) for many decades ahead.

Got not one ounce of sympathy of a group of people who together, elected to engage in this "war" - those who have since resigned/retired/moved on need to be rounded up along with the current mafia and shot.

Little doubts that the US will be a better place without them.

Also all Iraqi woman and children who died and dies every day, the numbers are much bigger then US soldier death. At least US soldiers chose to go there, Iraqi woman and children didn't have a choice!!!

Exactly the point - there is no way even a 1000 pics could illustrate the level of suffering and death to many thousands of people - the majority of them totally uninvolved in any conflict.

It's easy to sit 1000's of miles away and consider only US deaths - they are small in comparison - but one death among any of them is more than enough, especially if that is based on a series of lies.

If that is not criminal on a large scale - nothing is.

We will hear "fetishes" about Roe v Wade and pro this and that. At the same time, the same human trash are/have dumped tons of bombs on a country and left it with over 19+ times higher depleted uranium level than is recognized as "safe".

Apart from killing kids with bombs, the effect of DU will (and currently is) killing still more and will continue to kill and disfigure many thousands more children for decades. Even kids blown up by unexploded shells and who live, end up dying within a year or so from an assortment of cancers from DU.

To even discuss domestic issues like abortion is totally offensive, prissy and smells of "spoilt brat syndrome" when these same people are responsible for inflicting this level of damage in children from another nation

I've talked to quite a few guys that were headed over to Iraq. All of them said they wanted to go, most of them thought it would be fun.

I think this world that Bush hasd helped to create is an abomination and I can't believe this is happening. My girlfriends is from NY and she has had neightbors come home from Iraq have a psychotic break with reality nd kill thier wife and children and then not remmber doing it...no one knows what theyre facing in Iraq untill they get there and then when they come home the US government isnt giving these men enough help to get over the trauma...

There's no point spending $100 billion on your armed forces if you're not going to use them. There has to be some kind of ROI, and that's all Iraq is to the US government.
