    Schoolboy is bullied and re4ceives 1 million in compensation

    BEN COX has no friends. He is unlikely to make any in the future, or form any romantic relationships. At 18, his teenage life has "all but been destroyed", and his adult life will be no better.

    He will never know the satisfaction of a job, and anxiety and depression will be his likely companions for the rest of his life.

    With this bleak forecast, the Supreme Court's Justice Carolyn Simpson yesterday found schoolboy bullying was to blame and Mr Cox was entitled to compensation.

    In what is believed to be the biggest school bullying damages award in NSW, Mr Cox's legal team estimates the reclusive Hunter Valley teenager will receive about $1 million, giving him an income for life and superannuation.

    About $213,000 of the award is for his pain and suffering.

                  i think that's great - i can't imagine being a kid who was bullied relentlessly - there were always a couple kids who got it bad, most kids suffer some bullying but they have other friends and they can get over it. if more parents were made responsible financially for the actions of their kids you'd see less of this kind of thing.

                  i'm not a bleeding heart, in most cases getting bullied just makes you stronger but there are cases where the victim has no chance to fight back and the world is against him. hell I remember one kid who not only had all the kids picking on him but some teachers also got into the act. kids are prisoners, it's not like they can pick up and move to another town, go to another school, quit school - they are hostages.

                                                                      i remember some 300lb silverback guerilla black kid jacked me for a half oz of weed back in the beginning of my jr year of highschool. he ran around going off at the mouth for about a week after that. i got so much shit for it. well i caught that fucker in the lunch room eating cheese fries. grabbed a fuckin chair and wacked that fucker right across the mug.

                                                                      needless to say he found himself eating out of a straw for the next couple months. i saw that fucker 6 months later looked like he lost 100lbs.

                                                                                                      good post. compensation isn't often awarded in Australia for these types of things, but this really was a case of a kid who was stuck, lived in a fairly country area etc. hopefully his million doesn't get swindled by those bullies who are probably now his best friends.
