Good for him. You know the EU and South American have been paying around 6 dollars per gallon (1.50 per liter x 4 liters) for sometime now and have always paid double of the USA gas prices. Wake up America and get rid of those V6 -V12 engines if you are upset at gas prices. You rarely see those type of engines in those parts of the world. In any event this problem was created years ago when US car manufactures decided to build the super highways instead of making a country wide train system like Europe did so every person in the USA can not live without a car to simply fuel the car and oil industry. For the first time since I was 16 I do not have a car and I love it. I am in a country where I can walk to everything or hire my driver for $8 dollars per hour for translations, transportation and negotiations.

the joys of living in a small town... i heard theres a local 3 house town about 10 miles from where i live, that have gas pumps that are old as dirt, and they can't get their gas prices over $2.99 because of how old they are... so i guess i won't be paying more then $2.99 for gas anymore... woohooo!Comment

wow people are so fucking dumb. Not buying gas for one day isn't going to do anything, you are still driving around and using the same amount of gas. You would have to not drive anywhere for that day, and then it still wouldn't have an impactComment

maybe it is the rich people who should hop on the fucking bus like more poor people do and there would be less traffic.

My hunch is the majority of people who agreed to participate were the types who ride bicycles to work anyway...
And of course it won't make any difference for the obvious reasons Will pointed out. But the fact that consumers are very pissed off at the oil companies to try to rally something this I think is the main issue ... of course, that as well will have no effect.Comment

Doubling the gas prices to get the poor people off the road is ridiculous. When gas prices rise.. so do food prices and prices of pretty much everything else. It takes Gas to transport beer, produce whatever to your local stores.Comment

You may not interact with them, but gas stations don't run themselves and gas doesn't just magically show up in the storage tanks. And when you swipe your card, it would probably help if someone was working at the bank where the money comes from and I'm thinking it would be helpful if someone worked at the auto repair shops and the tire stores and the auto supply stores. And I wonder if Rochard likes to go to a restaurant once in a while and shop for groceries and buy clothes and go to the movies, and any of those other places where people work that probably can't afford $5 a gallon for gas. Maybe he uses the phone once in a while or watches TV. You don't have to interact with those people either, but the country ain't gonna run without them.
