there has been a lot of death in my family over the last year. All were natural deaths but living so far away I have felt helpless. With each other my grandparents my father said 'don't worry, you don't have to come'.
Screw that, I got on the plane the next day and went. Then on the way home from the airport my mother tells me that all my dad said after my grandfather died was 'I want Sarah home'.
In other words he was lying not to put me out - get in the car (which I am hoping you have already) and go. Not only is it the right thing to do but it sometimes helps for people to see all their family in one place. In their mind if they can see you, they know you are alright. Now is the time when people can't help their minds going to dark places. Be together and help snap each other back.
