seemed pretty clear from the article that his being in solitary 23 hours a day is an issue. It was specifically outlawed at one point, but i suppose both "cruel" and "inhumane" are open to alot of opinion. Inhumane would be something not human and humans are capable of some pretty terrible shit , so nothing is inhumane. Cruelty is just a matter of opinion i suppose and i'm sure many wouldn't even agree its wrong to be "cruel" to prisoners. They are prisoners.
I think solitary for 23 hours a day is cruel but i also think treason is pretty cruel and not entirely against "convicted" prisoners being treated cruelly , although i think there are more usefull things for them to do and being cruel to them doesn't help us or teach/punish them.
