I was never someone who "collected friends." I don't do it online and I don't do it in real life either. If I don't have anything to say to someone I don't. If I want someone to know about me they can ask me and I'll gladly tell them most anything - but getting requests from people who won't even bother responding when I ask them if I know them doesn't sit well with me. If I request someone that I don't know (which I don't) I would at least have the courtesy to say "Hey, I don't know you but you seem cool (I want to bang you and your hot roommate)." .. instead of just ignoring their inquiry.
