I have never worked for, but have consulted with and been courted by a few of the larger mainstream CPA networks. Some are better than others, but Clickbooth was by FAR the worst. They seriously bring kids off the street at 30k base, run them through a breif training course and then push them on to the floor. These are your "account managers".
You're also right about mainstream. Because they aren't coined the "dark side" the perception is they run things cleaner than the adult end of the market, but nothing can be further from the truth. Honestly I think in adult we are more innovative with affiliate program features, ad tools, etc. and mainstream leads the space when it comes to shady billing practices like prechecked cross sells and continuity offers, etc. They did it first, they did it "best".
