that drives me crazy too, it's almost like they are highly intelligent or something, I'll be working away and the fly will buzz right up to my head or land on my hand, but when I reach for the rolled up newspaper to try to kill it the fly takes off and I can't find it for a few minutes
this can go on all day, makes it impossible to concentrate

I had one in my bedroom the other, buzzing my head when I was trying to sleep. I get out of bed and turn on the light and I can't find it - I can only catch glimpses of the little bugger out of the corner of my eyes.
