    Are you a nationalist?

The more international travel you do the more you realise that people are more and less the same. We all have the same desires, the same hopes, the same needs and buy into the same shit. In the end, culture is just the details.

That's why nationalism makes me laugh. People trying to convince others (and themselves) that their slab of dirt is better than all the others just because they think so - and more often than not because they have been indoctrinated to believe it since birth. National anthems, flags, pledges of allegiance... all designed to brainwash the weak of mind, the easily influenced and the gullible.

Are you are nationalist? If so, tell me why your country is the best. I've been drinking and I need a laugh. Help me out.

Things like national pride & religion are necessary devices of human behavioral control. It goes all the way back to the origins of human life.

So bitch about it, or understand it... jump on the train & benefit from it.

Agree with ya PF - people are much the same everywhere and the country crap is kinda irrelevant.

Only me, but I don't give a damn where someone is from - it's who they are that matters - and, gotta say I've met some amazing people in the process.

They can vary from... very modest farmers - international jurists - people who earn $300/month and ooze utter generosity and actually care about others - a surgeon who invented a new heart value - a fairly poor Native American lady who happened be be awarded a Nobel Peace prize blah blah. It's who they are as people that matter, whether they are "rich" or "poor" is irrelevant. Prob not surprising, - they are all kinda modest.

When the human garbage starts with nationalistic/patriotic jingles, it kinda makes me sick. Don't matter if it's some idiot in my own country or elsewhere - just feel like drowning em in the ocean

I'm Dutch and I'm proud! Everybody should: wear wooden shoes, live in windmills, eat cheese, smoke nederwiet, drink heineken, eat haring, fuck whores at the redlightdistrict, watch ice skating, smoke in restaurants, watch Kim Holland, and dress in orange on every national occasion!

Flags, borders, language differences... they should all be abolished... we're all the same, no one is better than others, just as no race is any better that another...

That a partly the reason I'm looking at moving to another country with my daughters for a few years, so they don't think the universe revolves around the US.

I'm not saying that the US is shit place to live or anything like that, but I do agree that many carry view to the extreme and there's a whole lot of world out there...
