Here's some alternative ones, probably way cheap, not the real band, but do a damn fine job. (perhaps some good small party alternatives)
The Atomic Punks, tribute to DLR era Van Halen (Ralph does DLR better than DLR nowadays -- atomicpunks dot com) I believe they have media samples as well.. located in so. cal.
Which One's Pink? (whichonespink dot com) - Pink Floyd tribute - check their youtube page off their site. Listening to them, could swear it was PF. - also so. cal.
Metal Skool is always good too, though more rock and comedy, still a good time.. (lead singer of atomic punks is lead for this one as well. their guitarist used to play in a.p.) so. cal.
If an official band. I'd go with Gwar. My only regret about them is not going to their shows sooner. Bring a change of clothes and a towel.Comment

One other that I have seen that is pretty funny and interesting is The Dan Band. Theyve been in The Wedding Singer, Old School, and Starsky & Hutch. Saw them at an Ask Jeeves party, I remember hearing they were a bit expensive but cant name the price off the top of my head. Theyre more music and comedy mixed.Lubna

Ok... Some flaws in a lot of these suggestions...
1. System of a Down has broken up.
2. Limp Bizkit is down for the count.
3. Guns N' Roses is FAR from cheap. They sold out 2 Vegas shows at $175 a pop, and Axl won't leave his chamber for less than probably around 200-500k.

D$... Think about my suggestion about Mickey Avalon. He'll relate to rock fans as well as rap fans on a much broader scale. Plus his material is MEANT for the porn industry.

hmmm, some of those bands I don't think would do the Player's Ball regardless of budget - honestly I don't think you're gonna ever get Tool or NIN - as much as I love 'em - they take themselves pretty damn seriously & probably wouldn't do this event
you could obviously get a Kid Rock or Limp Bizkit - those guys don't give a shit - Korn might do it - is Kiss still together, heh? Gene Simmons is a total sleaze so I know he'd be down... that's what comes to mind - it's not just the budget but who'd even be willing to play an event like this - rappers don't give a shit - rockers are more concerned with their "cred"Comment

Staind put on a great small show at the Whiskey Beach at Green Valley Ranch which isn't a very large venue and sounded awesome. I think they'd put on a great show.
Otherwise, I say definitely Loverboy... they may not have cowbell but I wanna see if Mike Reno still wears those red leather pants with matching headband.Comment
