The creator of it totally got ripped off and made NO money from it. The way the contract was written, he didnt get any of the dvd/vhs or merchandise sales. He only got a portion of the boxoffice sales, which weren't high at all. Sucks to be him.
Rocco: Fucking... What the fuck. Who the fuck fucked this fucking... How did you two fucking fucks... FUCK.
Connor: Well, that certainly illustrates the diversity of the word.
Saw the movie years ago and liked it. I just saw a documentary about the guy who made the movie and what happened during that process. The documentary is called "Overnight" as in overnight sensation. I basically tells how this bartender wrote the script for the movie, and a major producer liked it and called him the next big thing. The problem was that the guy who wrote boondock saints was such an arrogant asshole that he pissed everyone in hollywood off and was black listed. He had to go to a low budget, indie film company to get the movie made. And even after that, few theaters showed the movie. I think he is still a bartender now. It is a real tragic/funny/enlightening documentary that you can find at blockbuster or netflix. highly recomended.

Actually, it is good to be him...from what I have heard the guy that wrote it is a bouncer and he had submitted a load of scripts over the years, all of which were total shit. Then someone randomly picked this one up and decided to go with it. Sure he didn't make a lot of money off it, but at least he has a claim to fame and got his 15 minutes.
