    Conspiracy Theory: WIKILEAKS

    Okay so I have been thinking about this. These guys are supposed to be some l337 hackers and they hosted on AMAZON? You have to be kidding me.

    I do believe that is a smoking gun, from my webmaster POV. There is way more to this than anyone is seeing that is for sure.

    I now have a hard time believing these Julian guys are for real. Amazon? Really?

    someone please tell me what I am missing here....

      There have been reports that a government inquiry prompted us not to serve WikiLeaks any longer. That is inaccurate.

      There have also been reports that it was prompted by massive DDOS attacks. That too is inaccurate. There were indeed large-scale DDOS attacks, but they were successfully defended against.

      Amazon Web Services (AWS) rents computer infrastructure on a self-service basis. AWS does not pre-screen its customers, but it does have terms of service that must be followed. WikiLeaks was not following them. There were several parts they were violating. For example, our terms of service state that ?you represent and warrant that you own or otherwise control all of the rights to the content? that use of the content you supply does not violate this policy and will not cause injury to any person or entity.? It?s clear that WikiLeaks doesn?t own or otherwise control all the rights to this classified content. Further, it is not credible that the extraordinary volume of 250,000 classified documents that WikiLeaks is publishing could have been carefully redacted in such a way as to ensure that they weren?t putting innocent people in jeopardy. Human rights organizations have in fact written to WikiLeaks asking them to exercise caution and not release the names or identities of human rights defenders who might be persecuted by their governments.

      We?ve been running AWS for over four years and have hundreds of thousands of customers storing all kinds of data on AWS. Some of this data is controversial, and that?s perfectly fine. But, when companies or people go about securing and storing large quantities of data that isn?t rightfully theirs, and publishing this data without ensuring it won?t injure others, it?s a violation of our terms of service, and folks need to go operate elsewhere.

      We look forward to continuing to serve our AWS customers and are excited about several new things we have coming your way in the next few months.

                          I know of a lot of pretty um.. "big time" webmasters who host on Amazon's service.. not really sure why it's "funny"..


                          but, if they were super "l337"(unless trying to prove a point), they'd be harder to "track" than most web site owners.

                          they're trying to prove a point, though.. clear as day. ;)

                                                      Nothing to do with who hosts there or not, it is a pretty big profile company to host a site like that on.

                                                      It wouldn't take a genius to realize that once it came out that amazon, the biggest retailer on the net, was hosting them that they would probably stop. Interrupt their service. If they hosted somewhere else, um AWAY from the US, that would make more sense.

                                                      My guess is they did it on purpose for more media attention once amazon picked their side. Fat chance amazon was going to stand by WL and keep hosting them.

                                                      It's only LOGIC. As a webmaster I firmly believe it was either done for a reason or this whole thing is fake and someone made a stupid hosting choice.

                                                          I have been having the same suspension of belief type moments.

                                                          From my experience, when someone leaks classified material for real the government usually shuts up with the only public comment being "no comment".

                                                          Whenever it is wikileaks, they all go apeshit.

                                                          Seems like much too attention being given it to it publically, almost as if someone wants our attention diverted.

                                                          So, it makes me wonder what is going on with the left hand while we are fixated on the right.

                                                          But that would be conspiracy type thinking I guess. No way our government would lie or purposely create misinformation. nah.

                                                              Do you put up a site with questionable content and just not care where you host it? I know I don't. There are lots of options.

                                                              It's like opening a porn company account at Bank of America. If you know BofA and adult sooner or later they will close you down.

The way they have Hillary Clinton scrambling around over this is like their confirming that these leaks are the real thing, and the government usually doesn't work that way. It is odd.

                                                                                                                                              I just started paying attention to this shit too, I kept seeing it, and seeing it, and people on FB started talking about it so I looked. Really, it wasn't like some info was leaked that I saw in a headline that was startling enough to catch my attention. But the media is like pounding this issue and the site is up and down and moves, it has gotten more and more exciting. lol

                                                                                                                                              So now I am like, is this dude going to get caught? Killed? It has turned into a reality thing I am following now. LOL But it really isn't like the actual leaks are that exciting at all. It is all the drama involved, and the comics about it are great too.
