Is this a new problem with on-line businesses or just something that has always been an issue? The main problem seems to be that ? quite understandably the very best sub contractors, artists, service providers, etc are in high demand and have a waiting list for new projects but the sheer nature of owning a pay site means that 99 times out of 100 things crop up and plan changes and new projects need to be sorted last minute and as quickly as possible.
I try to think back to when we started out with just one PC in the corner of the bedroom and I am sure that we used to get fucked about and hear the same old lame excuses back then as now but as we were having far less work done perhaps it wasn?t such a problem? We turn over the kind of money now that would have made our eyes bleed back then and this is now a serious cutthroat business pretty much like any other?
The problem is that we still get caught out from time to time and end up having to trust work to those that perhaps don?t have the same experience, drive or commitment? More than likely they are just in the same position that we were back five or six years ago in the corner of the bedroom sharing a dial-up connection with the telephone. The mistake that these people make is that they think that everyone is in the same position that they are and they need a bit of a wake up call.
