All Electronics. They're in Van Nuys, so a quick drive up the 405. They also have a Web site and publish a printed catalog. Mix of new and surplus.
No Arduino stuff. Gotta do Sparkfun or Robotshop or one of the others for that stuff.
The other suggestion, Orvac in both Pasadena and Fullerton (that's south of you), is also very good.
Finally, for lots of really old surplus there's Apex in in Sun Valley. Closest thing to an electronics junk yard you'll ever find. It's a terrible part of town, with bums sleeping on the sidewalks. Take an old car. Leave your girlfriend at home.Last edited by VGeorgie; 01-28-2011, 10:10 AM.Comment

I know you are joking, but it is kind of a sad statement on where things have gone in the past couple decades... experimenting used to be such an innocent and encouraged pastime, chemistry, electronics, etc... now it's gotten to where they want to regulate everything and look at it all with suspicion, even hacking falls in this categoryLast edited by d-null; 01-28-2011, 01:31 PM.

Isn't that the truth. Today you'd probably be thrown in jail for the kind of things you used to be able to make with the chemistry sets that were sold over the counter in toys store back in the 60's and 70's.I know you are joking, but it is kind of a sad statement on where things have gone in the past couple decades... experimenting used to be such an innocent and encouraged pastime, chemistry, electronics, etc... now it's gotten to where they want to regulate everything and look at it all with suspicion, even hacking falls in this categoryComment
