My parents never really did that, but they'd make me kiss my grandmothers, usually on the lips.

I don't think I'd consider that weird...as long as they're not frenching their kids. I find things like "kiss hello" with people you don't know much weirder, and that used to be more normal (like Richard Dawson on Family Feud).
