i had a chargeback yesterday for 69.95. the fucking asshole used our site for one month, and now charges back. wtf? i should be able to contest this crap. also ccbill decided to refund a customer, who once again viewed the site many times in the three days he the subscription. lets just say its been a really shitty week X 2.

and yes, thank God for rebills.

Definitely Something strange going on. We were doing good for a few days at the beginning of the week and suddenly come mid week sales cut in HALF, with the same traffic! Makes no sense. Haven't had a day that slow in 3 years! So I don't buy the "it's a slow day" theory. Something was up that day and I want answers....

Ann thank you for jumping in. As I stated before I even hesitated to post this cause I thought, summer slowdown, etc etc. But the way my sales tanked straight through the floor, and now others saying the same thing. Something is big time wrong. I sure hope they can find something, and find it quick.

Thank you Nylonbabes for posting this thread. I was sitting here literally at a loss of what to do.

I'm worried about my stats also last days. I had growth in both traffic and sales for april everyday on several sponsors. Then BLAM on 1st may stone cold. Everything died. Just drops in the regular rebills. gone from 1:700 ratios to 1:12000 ratios in may. Not just CCBill

What was April 17 people? Most of you complaining about poor sales that started towards the end of April probably got tax refunds.

But guess what? A lot of people out there are still recovering from being anal raped by Uncle Sam for tens of thousands!

so they all decide to stop watching porn on the same day? thats pretty amazing in my book.

                            not ""all" no

but to clarify, how many sales do you make on a good day?

Between my two programs I might do 50 or 60 sales on a good day. Spread out over 2 ccbill accounts and 1 epoch account. And yes things took a dive on all processors the end of April, but not to nothing.

I have no idea how many sales you are used to making, but if its only 2 or 3, yes it's possible to go to ZERO.

I'm not trying to pick on you either. By no means am I a big baller, or consider myself as such. I run 2 small programs. The point I'm trying to make, the less sales you make the more sporadic they will look.

I've been running my sites 7 years plus with CCBill and for 5 with Epoch. There are times in the year that sales historically take a dive year after year.

It's hard to see sometimes because this is a fast paced business and your sales are on a upward slope anyways. Or should be if you are working hard.

So sometimes when things take a small dive you might only notice it as a plateau instead of a valley.

                            Cheers,
                            bv

CCbill is one of my first sponsors back in the day (started maybe 1999). Since May 1 I have made maybe a couple of sales and only a few rebills. Looking like my first bad period with them in a while. Kind of panicking.

BV, what you are not getting is this: If my idea about toolbars, codec installers, etc is correct, as a program owner, you will continue to see the sales. Your numbers won't shift dramatically. What will shift dramatically is which affiliates are getting credited for sales.

Want to have fun? Pull your reports for the first 4 days of this month, compare them to the first 4 days of last month (pick similar days) and then look at which affiliates are making sales. Look for patterns in the ether... you may see that suddenly one or two affiliates have started to pick up a larger percentage of your sales.

The answer is out there. It just may not be all that pretty.

                                  This is what is happening

The ONLY sponsors not affected by this are the ones who do not deal with TGP/MGP (yes there are still many). What has happened is, a few months ago a HUGE TGP traffic source has started installing this shit. The same traffic source that feeds most of the TGP's we are used to dealing with...all the "bro's". How huge? Id say 5 000 000 of YOUR TGP surfers get promoted to install the codec on a daily basis.

P.S. Zango is tame compared to this shit.
I found a few sites that are using TH that have this shit on it. My stats are pretty good this month however.

let me mention that each year, around this time of year, things historically slow down a bit, not just with CCBill. the systems are working as they should and all test signups, with different cards and from different locations, all will work as they normally do...but each year around this time of year, you will hear this being brought up

corvette, with respect, understand that with toolbars or scumware, everything will appear normal and sales will continue - but the sales won't end up being credited to the actual webmasters sending the traffic.

I would suspect you would find some webmasters getting tons of hits only to the join page, or getting signups without any actual initial hits.

yes ccbill is off for me, slowest period in 9 years right now.

don't know if this is a factor, but USA gasoline prices have now jumped to the highest level in history at the start of the summer driving season.

Wrong, you think toolbars and scumware will stop all your sales? Come on man.

You wont see most program owners posting their sales are down because they are too worried that it will make them look bad and stop webmasters from sending them traffic.

I've been running paysites a long time. Like Corvette says and I also previously stated, THIS IS HISTORICALLY A SLOW PERIOD.

I use CCBill & Paycom to process my transactions and my sales are down just like everyone elses.

Just like they have done for the past 8 years. Well maybe not, the first few years it was so good and easy you didn't really notice.

don't know if this is a factor, but USA gasoline prices have now jumped to the highest level in history at the start of the summer driving season.
porn expenditure it's not influenced by the gasoline price.
ppl spend money on porn because they need to.

I've noticed May being slow before due to college students taking their finals, people paying the taxman, and the weather finally being nice enough to spend time outside. Once people get their tax rebates there's a little bump. But then once kids get out of school and kids go home from college, sales slow again for the summer.

That said, yesterday was a kickass day for me but today is sucking bigtime. Not sure what's going on with that.

Looked at my ratios over the last few days.

Traffic over the period was stable.

Affiliates conversions on the 1st and 2nd were bad compared with 29th and 30th. Last few days been normal.

Looking at the form click ratios and I see this is where the problem is. People were not going to the form to join and when they got there not completing it. Thats the fickle surfer and not CCBILL,

BV, I have been doing this since about 1995. The one thing that makes me laugh is the old "this is historically a slow period". That excuse was used for Christmas, January (credit card bills from chistmas), February (valentines day), March (spring break!), April (easter and all that stuff) and so on...

Is the whole year "historically slow"?

have you considered that they clicked and either got redirected to another site or had a popup over the top that might have slowed them down?

No, not at all, the whole year is peeks and valleys.

                                                          Think about it like this:

Program A does 365 joins a year. Do you think program A actually makes 1 sale a day? no no no that's not how it works. Program A makes zero sales for 1 day, maybe 2 sales next day, then zero sales for 3 more days, and so on averaging 365 a year.

Program B does 3650 joins a year. 5 sales one day, 15 the next, maybe 20 the next, then maybe 6, then 10 and so on averaging 3650 at the end of the year.

Program B has no zero days because he has enough volume.

Bottom line, small time affiliates that average 365 sales a year (1 a day) don't make sales every day. Even if their traffic stays the same amount every day.

                                                          Pretty basic stuff.

Here is a more logical explanation. Look at Pauls join page: http://www.paulmarkhamteens.com/tour/join.php

                                                            THERE IS NO PRICE SHOWING

That's not a bad thing, in fact that's what I do on some of my sites.

HOWEVER, this will give you some bad joinpage ratios because a lot of surfers click thru just to see how much the site costs.

There is a logical explanation for everything without having to wear the tinfoil hat.

BUT sales of affiliate programs, all affiliate programs not just CCbill are off significantly since the beginning of the month. I need to wonder if the trojan theory could be correct. Trojans spread logarithmically the speed is not surprising once a certain mass is achieved.

BV, I have been doing this since 1995, and I have studied statistics and statistic modelling. Too small a sample or too small a sample period can throw things off.

However, when you have many people reporting similar results (going from, say 1 in 1000 to 0 in 5000), there is enough shift there to raise concern.

Someone getting 365 sales a year may not get one every day, but with consistant traffic flows, it is very unlikely that they go a week or 10 days without a sale. It is even more unlikely if they aren't "ahead" on sales that point (say 125 days into the year, you have 175 sales... if you are going to get 365 sales in a year, you know you are going to have some dark days).

I am tired of the "it's a traditiionally slow period" bullshit, because more and more people are applying that to every other day of the year. Peaks and valleys, sure... but there is no logical explaination for "it's all a valley".

                                                                                Comment

It is even more unlikely if they aren't "ahead" on sales that point (say 125 days into the year, you have 175 sales... if you are going to get 365 sales in a year, you know you are going to have some dark days).

I am tired of the "it's a traditiionally slow period" bullshit, because more and more people are applying that to every other day of the year. Peaks and valleys, sure... but there is no logical explaination for "it's all a valley".

With CCBILL we've seen 3 hours in a row with 15 sales and then 10 hours with no sales just to be followed with 15 sales in maybe 2 hours...

We've tried many times to make test signups in these CCBILL holes and they always come through and shows us nothing is wrong

                                                                                    1. A major decrease since approximately the beginning of May in new sales of programs for which we are an affiliate; Ccbill and others.

                                                                                    2. A growing number of customers who contact our support and tell us that when they type in our paysite domain they are redirected to popup hell or another site unconnected to us. In the past these were trojans modifing DNS settings on the user computer shifting them to the Ukraine; now they are other things we cannot identify.

The instance of trojans is affecting any honest program and is hurting all of us.
