fact: no one gives a shit about ufc anymore

well, it's obviously not dead, and it still has a bazillion viewers, but the hype is certainly dead. it wasn't that long ago everyone was talking when a new event was coming up, now you get nada. hell some events even slip by me completely unnoticed simply because i don't hear anyone talking about them, and i don't even care to keep up with things myself anymore.

they killed it by pumping out way too many shit fightcards in my opinion. goes to show you who wins in the quantity ys quality battle i guess.

right - too many fights - I guess the predictions of it killing boxing were a little premature.

Never even heard of most of the people to be honest.

Pride was a thousand times better. UFC Ruined it. Hopefully they will collapse.

They do at least two a month right? Just nothing more than a money grab for those involved.

They need to change their scoring system or something. Machida is a piece of shit too, just dodging punches all night. There was like 30 seconds of action the whole fight.
machida is elusive and that's generally how he wins, by avoiding punches and racking up points with little strikes. it doesn't make for a very exciting fight, but how do you beat down a guy you can't touch?

what they need to change is the number of fighters they have in their stable. they got too many nobodies without any real skill, knock it down to some big namers again, guys with pure talent, and only fight the best against the best on fightcards that are worth watching. they're going to keep rolling with things as they are now though, because enough retards still order every ppv to make it profitable.

I enjoy watching TUF more than I do the payperview stuff. I enjoyed it more when UFC came on the scene in 93 and was in a tournament format and no weight classes. Royce Gracie won

That is going to change now that the UFC has absorbed the WEC. Adding the lighter weight classes and exciting guys like Jose Aldo, Urijah Faber, Mike Brown, Ben Henderson, etc. is going to make a HUGE difference in the quality of fight cards. Injuries have hurt the UFC a ton (for instance I was really looking forward to Roy Nelson vs Shane Carwin before Carwin ended up injured and needing major back surgery), so having a big stable of Bantamweight and Featherweight fighters to fall back in is exactly what they needed...

Last night's card turned out to be garbage. I was hype for it too and every fight was a bore.

It's not going to water anything down, in fact it will do the exact opposite. There are plenty of times the UFC has had to scramble and put a lower level fight on the main fight card due to injury. Now they have a bunch more top level, exciting guys to make the card stronger from top to bottom...

I wish they'd stop selling the small euro cards as "free UFC" and market them under Fight Night or something similar... The last few months it's been causing some confusion with a weird Bisping main event followed by a real Lesnar card a week later.

I would say it is far from dead. Sure, only every now and then do they get the big hype fights, but most of their pay per views now draw between 700K and 1 million buys. The recent pacquiao vs margarito which was hugely hyped sold about 1.4 million. Boxing might have 1-3 events a year that sell that many buys where the UFC seems to have at least one a month.

I hear bars have to pay 1000s to show a UFC fight. Think of all the bars that carry it. PPV + Bars + Gate = $$$$$$$$$$

The hyping and focus on marketing hurt it more than anything. By going overboard they overshadow the sport aspect of it (MMA). Sometimes less is more. Stand back and relax a bit.

Actually I'd love to see Zuffa removed entirely from it and replace them with a more communal or fighter focused commission. Not that I think this is going to happen anytime soon.

You don't like my posts? Put me on ignore or fuck right off. I'll say what I want.

It's about to jump the shark....

I've heard a lot of rumors that some of the top UFC fighters (Rampage Jackson, Roy Nelson) want to go to the WWE...

Undertaker was at Brock Lesnar's title loss, and the two had an encounter after Lesnar's match... (possibly setting up a Lesnar/Undertaker match--'Taker's Wrestlemania undefeated streak on the line??)

And wrestling gossip sites are talking about a story angle for WWE in early 2011 of an MMA invasion of WWE. Not sure if that's just in reference to the UFC stars leaving UFC to go to WWE, or if a crossover angle is being pushed, but even as a past WWE fan, I know that's going to make people question the legitimacy of UFC.

I noticed it when watching but thought my mind was playing tricks on me. Five seconds is missing from the first round. I went back and found the replay and verified that the clock shows 8 seconds the last it is shown and then you can time 3 seconds with a stop watch when the Bell is rang just as Falcao was about to choke out Harris. Five seconds seems to be missing.

Guys, the ufc is doing better then ever. The TV ratings in most countries where it's free are booming. They are doing great in mexico, asian markets, UK and some part of europe now.

They are outselling boxing by a wide margin if you look at the ammount of PPV buys in a yearlong. They have HUGE TV ratings too.

What will happen is more free fights on TV, because they can't have one PPV a week lol

Now that it's mainstream, the hype is definitly going to slow down... they rinse and repeat the formula over and over, people are getting used to the marketing. The big fights are still going to get hype, but the name fighters are going to be more important then the organisation.

They should get rid of the stupid gladiator entrance and stuff.
