I didnt find that area very painful, it felt more like a hard back scratch. The only part that really bothered me was the back of my arm near the pit and the inner arm around the pit, that hurt. In my experience the armpit, ribs, collar bone and stomach hurt the worst. If you dont know what you want and you're in nyc go see one of the greats and get something out of this world. I had some work done by Patrick Conlon of mac dougal tatto when he was working at http://www.everlastingtattoo.com/ and all I can say is his portfolio doesnt do him justice, that guy is an unreal artist.
