WTF is up with all these priests...

What is the deal with these fucking petophiles and the church trying to hide them. I would think that the church would want to separate themselves as far as possible from these sick damn god damn, I can't even find words to describe them.
Why couldn't the just find some nice sheep and fuck them?

Power corrupts..... The church will slowly self destruct from the inside unless the people wake up. Unfortunately as a former precticing catholic I know that many of the people who drop envelopes in the basket on Sunday are clueless and will continue to live in denial...

If they allowed their priests to get married, they might have a better chance of recruiting normal, healthy males to be priests instead of purposefully trying to corner the market on dopey gay males who can't get laid and have no chance of getting laid by anyone male or female.

I think your reason is irrelevant. The real reason for letting priests get married is so that they can give realistic advice to married couple, couples having problems with their kids, and so on. Priests don't abuse kids because they have no access to women, nor if they happen to be gay. Pedophiles are simply attracted to positions of trust, so the priest, minister, school teacher, and so on are the ones we should always be most suspicious of.

A lot of the problems are in my home town of Newton Ma.

My friend from highschool was friendly with about a dozen kids who have recently come out and told people they were raped as boys.

While I do not doubt that some of these charges are valid.

I am of the opinion that some of these charges, made by some of these people are BS. There are a rash of charges being made by people that claim they were molested 10-15 and more years ago. In the most recent case I have heard of; the guy is now 23 and claims that it was only two months ago that a supressed memory of molestation (age 6-13) suddenly came to him.

I wonder if the fact the media has being tossing around figures that the church may have settled past unpublisized cases for as much as a total of one billion dollars, has something to do with the current rash of charges, and unsupressed memory.

i think you missed FATPad's point entirely. the current situation where priesthood attracts pedophiles is because like to said, a position of power and trust, but also because it masks tendencies.. if you're a priest no one asks why you're 40 and never been with a girl... by allowing them to marry you remove one of the masking factors.. who gives a fuck about their ability to give marital advice? it's the CHURCH.. there are plenty of doctrines on marriage.. let them see a counsellor or whatever.. do it for the kids.
fatpad didn't say "let them marry so they don't get frustrated".. he said "let them marry to attract well adjusted people".. (as well adjusted as a potential priest possibly can be at any rate)

surpressed memories are dangerous things... it's just too easy to have them suggested.. or to mix things up subconsciously.. i'd bet money that repressing memories of such things happens in a very small minority of cases.. now it seems every idiot can go under hypnosis and remember parts of movies instead of their lives..

Actually, most abused children supress the memory. Its the bodies way of dealing with it.

The brain needs a trigger before it releases this memory, hence numerous cases coming out at once.
