I think the Epassporte fiasco brought a lot of people back to GFY, some who who have never registered here.
Now turn the question around and let's ask if there are really any new SPONSORS in the industry who have not been around in some form in the past. There is much more truth to your statements if applied as such.

I noticed that too but a lot of the ones who came back seem to have disappeared in a hurry after they presumably discovered it wasn't going to be easy.
